  1. Must gets for brunch: monte cristo & blueberry pancake! Yummyyyyy!!!

Each dish is a really big portion so come hungry. Unless you eat a lot, get a pancake and a monte cristo between 3 people with juices or cocktails or iced ovaltine and you'll have a perfect meal.

they don't take reservations, so come right at 9:45am with your whole party there. They start seating at 10am and only seat you once your whole party is there. (I saw some angry friends who were in line and had to wait for their friends who were late and didn't get seated till later!)

Why is this place 4 stars then? — their carbonara isn't that great. One of the servers said it was awesome and we got it and was quite disappointed. It was a really large portion too, made me feel like we wasted food. The service was also a bit slow, granted they don't have many servers.

But overall a great experience! Will be back!

  2. Prune checks off everything on my list of what a good brunch should entail.

    Pinterest-able storefront, check.
A wide selection of dishes including (but not limited to) pancakes, eggs in 4+ ways (must have eggs benedict), check.
A good brunch centered cocktail menu (with a emphasis on one of my favorite brunch cocktails – the Bloody Mary)-check.
    And great service – check.

This is the kind of place I would go to for the quintessential New York brunch experience. The food is delicious (not the 'best I've ever had' kind of delicious, but delicious nonetheless), the brunch cocktails are so well thought out (HUGE fan of the separate menu just for Bloody Mary's and I love that the Bloody Mary's come with a chaser), and the overall experience is just delightful. Highly recommend it if you're looking for a good brunch experience.

  3. Disappointed I would say. I've been dying to try this place for a couple months. Finally went last wkd around 12 the wait wasn't too bad (one time I went and the wait was an hour).

The iced ovaltine was fun but gets too sweet after a couple sips, and the prune juice is not as expected.

We had the Benedict, not bad but nothing special. And the spaghetti- don't worry you will be full when you are half way thru because it's just the noodle and a couple dices of bacon that's it…..

The shop is pretty small but cute. Service isn't bad but I prob won't wait again for the food there.

  4. Great brunch spot. Went around 12 on a Saturday and waited 25 min for two. But it wasn't as bad as we thought it would be. The host and waiter were friendly but the place did feel a little cramped and hectic. European feel meets pink shirts and stools. The portions were normal priced but a little small but so tasty. We shared the ricotta and scones place which was ridiculous and each got an egg plate. Definitely would recommend and come back.

  5. I've bookmarked this place for the longest time, only to find that it's such a compact space for a Sunday brunch wait, our wait was almost an hour, before us was an upset couple that almost left in the middle of the wait.

Regardless, we were able to sit down at the end, I felt accomplished and not hungry anymore, the staff was very nice about seating us and serving us, the place has no AC, just fans circulating with warm air. It's a nice vintage French cafe style decor, I get it, but it's not the most pleasant to sit in after an hour wait in the heat. I've been to other restaurants with open doors with an AC blasting, I know it's possible to keep the space cool and comfortable.

We ordered the Ricotta and Dutch Pancake with a side of omelette with smoked salmon and cream cheese. The Dutch Pancake is a must have, but it's utterly sweet after two bites, my husband and I both have a sweet tooth but it was way too sweet. It's got a nice crispy exterior with a buttery inside, with cream and blueberry in the center, it's got a nice taste but I wish it was not so grossly sweet. My Ricotta with nuts and raspberries was not bad, but those crispies were just as sweet as the pancake, I managed to eat one and I was done. It's very crispy and warm, the inside is pretty much the same as the pancake.

The omelette was just ok, I was impressed with how they pan fried the egg, it's perfectly yellow and not a single spot burned. But the salmon was just bland, overly nothing special.

I liked my Prune juice, which was a mix of lemon, lime, orange and grapefuit juices, freshly squeezed. My husband said it was a waste of one hour wait and a waste of $60 paid. I don't think I'll pay another visit for the egg bennies because I can get nice egg bennies anywhere in the neighborhood.

  6. Came here on Saturday for brunch. I made sure to arrive at 9:50am (10 min prior to opening) because they don't take reservations. My boyfriend and I waited in a line that was already forming. They opened at 10am sharp and seated everyone promptly. I ordered the classic Bloody Mary and a cheese omelette with a side of potatoes (which is really a potato latke which I was excited about). My boyfriend ordered the Chicago matchbox Bloody Mary and the classic eggs Benedict. The bill was $60 for the above. The food came out within 7min of ordering which I was somewhat weary about. But it could just be a very efficient kitchen. My omelette was small, it looked fake, the eggs were undercooked and someone in the kitchen was very heavy handed with the pepper. It was warm, not hot. The omelettes don't have veggies and cheese incorporated into the eggs, it's just added afterwards. The potato latke was a good size but cold. My boyfriend said the eggs Benedict were average, somewhat bland and not hot. For the bloody Mary's, the mix was very good. The garnishes were extremely disappointing. If you want more garnishes you have to pay for them. The glass was filled with ice half way. Although they tasted good they were pricey. Overall, the quality of the food was below par and disappointing. Way too pricey. I will not return. The licorice after the meal is hard and inedible. It just leaves a bad taste in my mouth after a disappointing dining experience.

  7. Super small space with tables cramped together, so if you want to avoid the brunch crowds, arrive before 11:30 am. Regardless of whether it's crowded or not, know that service will be lacking and rude. It seems like all the hostess was concerned about was telling you that your entire party had to be present to be seated and rushing you from your table. So if you're looking to catch up with your girlfriends over brunch, look elsewhere as within seconds of being seated you'll be asked what you'd like to order.

My friend and I split the famous Dutch pancake and the Monte Cristo. Both dishes were good, but not omg this is so amazing good to justify the $17 price tags. The Dutch pancake resembled the taste and texture corn bread, which I happen to love. My favorite was the crispy corners of the pancake. It's dense and heavy, so I would recommend sharing this dish with someone if you wish to try it. Its flavor is also one noted after awhile as it lacks texture, so attempting to eat the entire pancake alone loses the initial first wow factor after a couple of bites. The Monte Cristo was extremely fried, so it's another heavy dish, but with some added grease. It's a smaller portion too. Both dishes had a hefty amount of powder sugar on top, so eating both altogether had the equivalent amount of sugar/sweetness as a dessert – I can still taste the sugar lingering.

Oh and at the end of the meal, you'll get a piece of black licorice. If you're not a black licorice fan, DO NOT EAT IT. This was the first time I've ever tried black licorice and I was not a fan. Poor judgement on my part for placing the entire piece in my mouth and not wanting to be rude by spitting it out.

  8. The brunch here is absolute heaven.  I'm in love with the scrambled eggs, the bloody marys and the carbonara pasta.  Service is excellent.
