  1. This restaurant is outstanding. Restaurant itself is gorgeous and comfortable and the food is undeniably delicious.

    Haloumi- YES
    Fried zucchini and eggplant rounds- YES (sounds simple and not worth it, but it's amazing)
    Saganaki- Wasn't my favorite
    Garides Ouzo- Good, but have had the flavors elsewhere
    Horiatiki- SO MUCH YES… best Greek salad I've ever had.
    Patzarosalata (beets)- Very good, but again, can get elsewhere.

    They serve complimentary hummus for dinner. If you go for lunch, skip the vegetable pita sandwich; that left a lot to be desired.

  2. This is still one of my favourite restaurants on the planet….we had another sensational dining experience…

    We had the:
    *Anginares Moussaka – the fresh artichoke hear with layers of carmelised onions, cheeses and herbs;
    *Dolmathes Avolemono – grape leaves filled with rice, herbs, nuts and more;
    *Htapothi Scharas – grilled octupus marinated with a balsamic dressing;
    *Afrata Keftedakia – pan fried meat balls in olive oil;
    *Horiatiki – the classic greek salad; and
    *Arni Kotsi Me Meli – a succulent lamb shank and roasted tomatoes

    And all of this with a wonderful Greek wine, the 'Oenos'.

    We had great service as usual and cannot wait to return…..

  3. Loved the style and design of the restaurant upon entering. The food was also excellent.

    The hummus tastes fresh. Like someone picked it from a garden and mashed it minutes before being served on the table.

    I was a bit bummed about there not being baklava. But the other desert that we had which was similar was also good.

  4. Ordered the baby lamb chops. It was pretty good. I have to say my favorite dish was the three cheese clay pot appetizer. Boy oh boy was the melted cheese good! My friend ordered the striped bass which was also really good. My other friend ordered the scallop and shrimp noodles and the seafood was pretty fresh. All in all, I had a pretty good meal here. Would come back.

  5. Oh how I love it here!! The ambiance is just great..cozy, lively, well-lit and comfortable. When it's busy they like to seat small groups around a "group-table".. we were once seated here but this wasn't for us.. and we got up and said we would wait for a table, and then they sat us right away!!

    We always get a mix of appetizers–always great–and an extremely well done Greek Salad that   I consistently crave after eating here. The moussaka is my favorite entree and very well balanced and nice presentation (it is stacked in cylindrical shape with bolognese on top)! Highly recommend!

  6. The food is really tasty they really know how to manage the different ingredients and spice just to give the perfect taste.
    Just love the food and the atmosphere of this Greek place.
    We had
    – the traditional lamb moussaka
    – and the shrimp, scallops with pasta it was delicious.

    They also had have a nice Greek bottle of beer and tasty wines.
    it was a real pleasure 🙂

  7. 4.5 stars… The dining room itself is nice (check out the pics with the pots on the ceiling). But there were some tourists with their nasty bare feet on the bench seating on the wall. Not the restaurants fault but we were seated so close to them it was off-putting. Might need to sacrifice one table to space people out a little bit more…

    In any case, the food itself was absolutely wonderful. I couldn't really get into the meat moussaka that everyone else (including my dining partner) seem to love. But what I did love was pretty much everything else. The pork shank was done as well as I've seen anywhere including the accompanying sides. Deeply satisfying. The lamb chops were also perfect in every way (again including the sides). My only complaint is that this dish is sooo small. Could use maybe one more chop.

    Other things we loved- the beef phyllo pastries (oh my goodness…) and the meatballs (perfect).

    Really, I don't think you can go wrong here. Service was also friendly and good. The hostess had a bit of attitude when we asked to not sit by the door, but what can you do… Hope someone listens to our recommendation of removing one of those tables. We'll be back…

  8. This place leans towards 3.5 for me.  It;s like a first date that was not "Meh" but there wasn't enough sparks for you to feel fireworks, but there is some chemistry there to come again – explore more. Okay, I'll stop with the first date analogy – but basically I might need another go to feel more.

    Atmosphere: Small and intimate.  This is perfect for a small birthday dinner with friends or date night.  Decor is pretty and it's not noisy or anything.

    Food: Delicious food for sure.  I came later than the rest of my party so I cannot comment on the appetizers (they were yummy when I nibbled but I missed out). For my entree, I ordered the lamb chops that came with the eggplant and potatoes.  Loved them – and I finished every morsel on my plate.

    Service: Good service – not over the top or anything.  Didn't blow me away or anything – food came out in a timely fashion, servers were attentive and nice, just nothing exceptionally good or bad to say about the service.

    I had a good time here and would recommend this place to a friend – but it's not my "go-to" Greek spot in NYC.
