  1. There aren't many bbq places in westchester. There used to be a decent one in White Plains but it recently closed. My brother found this place and what a find. It's like Hill Country's distant cousin because the style reminded me of it.

THe tables are lined with paper because we all know when you eat que, you're going to make a mess. At one end you order all of your food, and then they will hand deliver your meal to your tables. They have a bunch of tables, and you can combine them to make a larger table. They also have a full bar.

It's a very family oriented restaurant, a lot of tables had a lot of kids. A big pro about this place is that the food comes out VERY FAST. Within 5 minutes of your order, it comes straight to your table. For the amount of food that they give you, the prices are very reasonable, especially if you get a que combo.

I myself tried a brisket and sausage combo with collard greens and cheesy corn. The brisket was decent. It was mainly lean, and it reminded me of the lean brisket from Hill Country. I wish they had the option to get moist brisket. It was good but not great. The sausage was cooked perfectly and htey give you a big amount. It was smokey, juicy, and really flavorful. The skin had a nice snap to it when i bit into it. THe collard greens were seasoned perfectly and i enjoyed that they cooked it with bits of bacon. The cheesy corn was liquidy and not memorable. I know now to avoid that side dish. I tried my family's cole slaw which was okay, and the mexican corn which was good but not as great as the ones you find at the Red Hook Ball Fields.

An interesting dish that i want to try are the Q Fries which are essentially fries topped with brisket and other goodies.

2 thumbs up for this place. It's no Hill Country, but it's great for a Westchester find.

  2. What an accomodating place. We were having a little gathering at my friends store down the block and we wanted to grab a bite to eat and bring it back and eat. They even gave us free ice for our drinks (the alchoholic ones we had back at the store) eventhough we didn't order any actual drinks from the restaurant.

We placed the order in advanced for pickup and it was waiting when we got there. Checkout process was very quick and friendly. I got the Q Sampler Plate since it was my first time and I wanted to taste a little of everything. It includes Chicken, Brisket, Ribs, & Pulled Pork and it comes with two sides and cornbread. The portion is definitely enough for two people althought I wish there were more ribs and less brisket that came with it. For my sides I selected mac and cheese and hickory pit baked beans.

The cornbread was nice, good consistency and not too cakey. It was a cut square and not a muffin (like some places give). The mac and cheese was made with shells and you can tell the sauce was homemade. It wasn't cheese wiz or canned cheese. It honestly tasted like they started with a thickened roux and real cheese was added. It even tasted good re-heated and most mac's dont stand up to the test when it comes to poppin it in the microwave later. It wasn't dry or nasty the sauce was still nice and creamy.

The beans were smoky and sweet with pieces of pork and heavy on the bbq sauce which I didn't mind because their house bbq sauce is pretty tasty. My husband thought it was a little too sweet but he prefers spicier tangy sauces. I dipped my corn bread into the beans for added moistness, not that it was dry or anything but I never let any tasty sauce go to waste!

Now onto the meat… the brisket was okay, I'm not a huge fan of it generally and I probably wouldn't order it again. There were three thin slices of it.

The ribs were fantastic with fall off the bone goodness. Their only downfall was they were a little on the fatty side but that happens unfortunately. There were about 4 of them stacked on top of the brisket and chicken in a plastic container. The meat was super tender and flavorful with an appropriate amount of sauce and smokiness. They weren't super slathered. They do provide extra sauce on the side as well, but only one. I think two would be more appropriate based on the amount of food in this order.

The chicken was perfect, very nice lean cut also smoky and delicious but they do charge $1 extra for white meat which I think is silly especially since the meal itself is already almost $30.

The pulled pork comes on the side in its own container. The chunks of meat were nicely shredded yet the bites were plentiful. Personally I think it was a little on the dry side and could have used a little more tenderness and sauce but still very edible. This is where I poured most of my sauce.

The best parts of the meal were the chicken, ribs and the pulled pork probably comes in third as long as I have a decent amount of sauce to add to it. Now that I've sampled most of their offerings I would recommend the two meat combo or the rib plate.

  3. i love you Q! seriously. $3 microbrews (hello captain lawrence), consistently delicious pulled pork sandwiches, and $1 jumbo wings!? friendly staff? i'm at Q at least 2x a month, usually more. Q…YES YES YES only thing- skip the mac and cheese (unless you like the taste of nacho cheese) and opt for potato salad or baked beans.

  4. OMG, when I go home to Westchester, this is one of few restaurants that comes to mind that I want to visit before I leave.

I've eaten there was seems like a million times, especially when it first opened I was hitting it up more than once a week even (probably NOT good for the cholesterol!)

All the meats are great – even the burgers.  My favorite meal was a pulled pork or beef brisket sandwich (which comes with a little coleslaw and a pickle on it – which is key!) and Mac N Cheese as the side.  I've taken tons of poeple there and everyone loves it.  I even had a Texan who agreed it was delicious.

If you get their delicious sweet iced tea, it comes in a mason jar you can keep.  Most people seem to get excited about that, until they really think, what am I gonna do with a Mason jar?  🙁

    LOVE Q!!!

  5. A colleague at work suggested this place for lunch.  Storefront, fast food style.  You order at the counter, they give you a table number, then they bring the food to your table when it's ready.

It was solid barbecue.  Very good.  Better than average.

One dude got ribs, which looked great (although a bit stickier than I usually like them, but that's not a much of a complaint).

I got a pulled pork sandwich, which was bang-on.

Another guy got a less traditional boneless BBQ chicken wing something-or-other, which he liked although it isn't really 'cue.

    I'd happily go back.
