My quest for to rid myself of the "burrito urge" is over. I had been here before and was always impressed. I thought "how can a chain Mexican restaurant be one of the best burrito's I ever had"? I mean, I am sure there are great places out there. My quest led me to the worst places. Disappointment after disappointment! Finally decided to go back here and I was satisfied. I had the Fajita Ranchera Burrito w/steak. They really do load up the burrito and the spices they use make it taste so flavorful. With guac added and a soda the meal was less than $10 but money well spent! The staff is very friendly and they really move you along relatively quickly. The location is small and gets busy during lunch. Limited seats is the only downside.
This place has gone downhill since I last ate there many months ago. I have to compare it to Chipotle, to which it pales in comparison. The food here is sadly underseasoned and the paper between the food and the metal plates gets soggy and becomes part of the food. Blecch.
The people working the line also do not understand English too well. For the price, you do so much better at Chipotle.
Today I was there and said "no cheese" on my burrito. "Cheese?" she asked again. "No cheese," I said. She puts cheese on.
I was so baffled that I just looked at her for a second. Finally she looks at me and I tell her casually, "I said no cheese." I thought she would apologize and say, "Do you want another burrito?" But she doesn't say a thing. She shrugs a little.
Then I get to the register and the woman says, "To stay or to go?" "To stay," I say. And she puts it in a bag to go.
What is going on here? It must be opposite day.
I've always ordered rice bowls at Chipotle. But I noticed this place didn't have it. So I ordered a burrito with chipotle bbq and chicken. I must say the burrito can get messy but it is so worth it. The rice, beans, sauce, and chicken packed into a warm tortilla had my name all over it. The price is right with this place especially if you compare it to the other restaurants in this expensive mall.
Ordering process is a bit disorganized and we had to repeat/ clarify order because of issues w/ communication. This place gets busy and it seemed like they were understaffed. When a few of the soda drinks ran out – sprite, coke, a bunch of people waited a while with empty cups before someone could assist. Other than the service though, the food was on mark. My soft taco with guac (extra fee) was yummy.
