As a member of Generation Y, I freaking love getting brunch. I finally convinced my favorite vegan to not sleep in last Sunday so we could get brunch. Got there around 2pm, and it was still pretty busy, we actually had to wait about 5 minutes for a table. The restaurant is pretty small, it kinda felt like we were bumping elbows with our neighbors. But the service was quick and friendly.
I usually don't like getting breakfast foods when eating out since I feel like I make them just as well at home. But I like making an exception for vegan dishes since they're more challenging. We ordered the Breakfast Burrito and the Whole Deal to share. It was a lot of food.
The breakfast burrito was awesome! I asked them to make it vegan, and it was loaded with daiya cheese, avocado, scrambled tofu, and vegan sausage. The hash browns it came with were super creamy/buttery too. They were delicious!
The Whole Deal came with a tofu scramble omelette, vegan sausage patties, and banana pecan pancakes topped with strawberries. The omelette could've actually been eggs and cheese for all I knew. And it's just as delicious to pour syrup all over vegan pancakes and sausage.
This may be my new favorite vegan breakfast spot.
Cozy restaurant and friendly waiters. Service is on point, food is great! I love their soups and the avocado sandwich. Yummy! And perfect for those cold New York winter days! I was there the other day with my friend and the first thing they asked us if we wanted something hot to drink (it was brutally cold outside) and served us our teas very fast. Places like this makes me so happy!
A great place, even for us non-vegetarians. (The waitstaff also very generously seated me before another party, despite the fact that the rest of my party was running late–super friendly people).
The menu is HUGE and everything my table ordered was fantastic. Will definitely be back to try the brunch items!
My husband and I came here for lunch during the week last week. We're both vegan and are obviously really happy to eat in places that can accommodate us without having to modify dishes. He ordered the vegan corn chowder soup (it was a special), and we both ordered our entrees: Seitan Satay and the Macro Platter w/ ginger dressing. After a few spoonfuls of the soup, my husband realizes there's salmon chunks in it – so the waiter mistakingly gave him the salmon chowder. Being vegan, he was really grossed out and upset that there was such a careless error. I thought – what if you had a fish allergy, staff can't afford to make this big of a mistake for various reasons. He alerts the waiter, gets a brief appology and brings the right soup. No pleading, no extra sorries, no comp'd soup.
Both the entrees really lacked some originality. My macro plate was good (I've had it many times in other places) but the dressing was really watery. The seitan was good but nothing to come back for. Overall, we were pretty disappointed with our lunch – especially the soup error, so we have no intention of returning.
After scouring the internet high and low for a decent vegetarian restaurant, I found Quantum Leap. I arrived some time after 1:00 pm on a Sunday and found that the restaurant was quite full. Still, I was told to grab the empty table in the back as I waited for my guest. And then, less than 60 seconds later, right as I was taking off my jacket, I was told that I had to give my seat up for some guests that left and returned. This happened twice. I wasn't upset since the rest of my party wasn't there. I just thought to myself isn't it Basic Hostess Etiquette 101 to tell people they can't be seated until their party arrives or allow them to sit before their party arrives but let them stayed seated. Rather than let them sit, then tell them they have to get up if another party arrives. No biggie though, as the hostess was highly apologetic and seemed very sincere. So all was forgiven.
I went outside and waited until the rest of my two-person party arrived and was seated about five minutes after giving the hostess my name. We order the nuggets with BBQ sauce for an appetizer, the multi-grain pancakes with soy eggs and soy ham, and the banana-walnut waffles with soy patties. Everything tasted so good. The food was better than a lot of regular(non-vegetarian) restaurants. We both cleaned our plates and although I was full, I didn't feel bloated or stuffed and sleepy. I felt rather satisfied actually. So much so that this is someplace that I highly-highly recommend.
Another great thing about the restaurant is that our server was very nice. While she waited on us, I thought to myself, she ain't from around these parts. Her hospitality was just that good; southern like.
As for the setting, it was kind of dim and small and cramped. I can't complain much being that it's located in the village, which isn't known for big bright airy eateries. Besides, I like the fact that the bathroom is in the back, hidden from view. I think there's only one though. No bueno.
Go, and check this place out for yourself!
Fantastic!! I'm a vegetarian and try to avoid soy as often as possible, so I got their seitan satay and it was incredible. I started out with the summer roll, so fresh and yummy, and had to get half of the seitan satay wrapper up because the portions are HUGE!! I'm definitely going to be coming back here
Looking for a dinner place in the area on a Friday to accommodate both vegetarians and non. Quantum seemed to have good reviews with decent prices, and most importantly, free tables.
Browsing through the menu, you notice that this spot does not specialize in just one cuisine. Dishes range from Mexican to Asian to American and everything in between. Didn't want anything fancy, so settled on their "Middle Eastern" burger ($10) – a big falafel patty with some veggies and sauce that comes with a side of garlic fries. Burger is fine – a standard bun with minimal sauce but flavorful patty (better with hot sauce). Fries were overcooked yet saved by the garlic seasoning. My friends got a tofu dish which they hated and another got the enchiladas which were oily and included sour cream (which he said he didn't want).
Service is a bit strange. Three different people came by to take our orders or to serve food and deliver the bill. This is probably why they forgot to take the sour cream off. Fine for a relatively cheap meal, but wouldn't recommend to my other vegetarian friends.
You know when you're really hoping you're going to love a place but then it just sort of falls through? That was my experience here. Although they had many options, both my friend and I were disappointed by our choices. The food wasn't bad, it just wasn't good. Further, the service was sloooow. Slow. We were the only people in the restaurant for lunch, except another table dining solo. After ordering, our server did not come back to check on us again. Another employee dropped off our food, and after finishing our meals and sitting with dirty plates, we saw our server walking out the door. Finally we went up to the counter to get our check. Had we been in a rush, this would have been a huge inconvenience. Lesson learned, though. I would give this place another shot but I would not recommend it.
