  1. I know this butcher shop as Queens Meat, but what ever the name, the butcher shop at this address is great! I've never failed to be a hit when we bring their souvlaki sticks to a barbecue. They have beef, lamb, pork and chicken souvlaki sticks and they're less than $1 each. That's right, under a buck for a truly tasty meatcicle. Make sure you don't forget the tzadziki sauce. The people that work there have always been very friendly and they are open most weekends (we went the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend and they were open and they said they'd be open on Memorial Day).

  2. I am adding this review for four reasons:

    1) This is a seemingly well-known butcher shop, but they are not on Yelp.

    2) Their biggest sign says "Baby Lamb – Baby Goat – Baby Pig". This is both hilarious and sad every time I pass it.

    3) On CitySearch, their only review is from Elaine Hall in the UK, who apologizes for the unconventional approach, but is trying to find her long lost butcher grandfather

    4) One time my sister's ridiculous ex-boyfriend (who lived in CT) wanted to have a giant summer party at his house. He needed a goat, and somehow decided that out of every butcher between New York and CT, this was the best one. In the middle of a scorching August, my sister casually asked if I would procure said goat (!), put it in my trunk (!!), drive it 60 miles across state lines (!!!), and then have it picked up in the parking lot of the finance firm I worked at (!!!!) in Westport.

As a compassionate brother, I did all of these things. But no good deed goes unpunished! The ne'er-do-well who came to pick it up said that he "forgot the money", and thought that after all of these hilarious adventures, I would also eat the $100+ used to obtain this animal. I explained that his faulty logic would likely lead to fisticuffs, and he managed to quickly find an ATM.

Although they seemed to be friendly and have a great selection, this was my only experience shopping at this butcher. However, this experience ultimately was used as evidence when I aggressively and thoroughly made the case that my sister should end her relationship with this cretin. For that, this butcher deserves a hearty four stars.

(FYI – the sign outside has said "Steinway Meat Market" for a long time, but they are listed elsewhere online as Star Meat Market).
