Second time trying this place! The first time I had Ralph's was at long beach which is more of a touristy/beach-chillin venue. This spot offers a small hipster-like space which can be based off the lack of organization as well as colors. (in my opinion)
THE ICE;
Strawberry Cheesecake (Sherbert); very sweet, and really reminds you of the strawberry cheesecake flavor! The medium was more than enough for me which was 4$ flat. I'd get this flavor again, but a smaller size.
Chocolate with Hazelnuts; (hazelnut the nuts)
A different chocolate flavor from your regular hershey bar. Very smooth and with the hazelnut, it gives off a great crunch and texture.
I'd definitely recommend this one over the strawberry cheesecake.
I can't wait to try the other flavors!
You never fail me Ralph. I've been to a lot of different locations and none of them have failed me, including this one.
This location offers a good selection of ices and ice cream, although not as much as the other ones I've been to, but still good! I actually only came to this location twice so far because I actually never realized it was there…so I'll be back quite often. I've only gotten the ices so far and it's AWESOME as usual. It really satisfies my cravings especially on these hot Summer days. I've tried the Rainbow, Mango, and Lemon so far and YUMMY!!
Totally recommend! Thinking about it makes me want it now…
This isn't your average Italian ice from a street cart. There are so many flavors to choose from, it's a bit overwhelming. I felt bad asking for sample after sample but the employees were super nice and patient with us as we took forever to decide what we wanted to get. I ended up getting the orange & creme which was basically a creamsicle in Italian ice form – yum! The first time I came, I got the citrus twister (I think that's what it was called) and that was also pretty good. (I'm a big fan of citrus if you couldn't tell.) The small is a pretty hefty portion imo. Looking forward to going back and trying more flavors!
The Queens and Brooklynite in me are shaking their heads in dismay. Yannie has betrayed her roots. Personal preferences push the Corona lemon ice king and Uncle Louie G's aside, I'm stand with the Long Island folks on this one.
Though I usually frequent the Ralph's in Belmore and Manhattan, I'm happy to find this Bayside location with exceptional service and perhaps an even bigger selection than most.
Shout out to Joe for the great service throughout, and the owner – Ms Nina for up-keeping the great reputation on social media.
Same great flavors. The folks here were very generous in having us try out some of their flavors as soon as we stepped in.
This was the beau's first time at Ralph's as he loved it.
Rec: get the small, I personally think medium can be a little overwhelming for one person, unless you plan on sharing.
Containers available to go.
Oh Ralph's, what would summer be without you? Everytime I dine in Bayside, I try my best to leave room for Ralph's. It never feels crowded in there and you are tended to right away! My favorite is the rainbow ice. It's so cool watching them scoop from the three different flavors to combine my favorite swirly looking dessert. It's still reasonably priced and a large portion for the smallest cup. I always wanted to try something different but always default to my favorite!
So glad this place is around. It was perfect getting a classic chocolate ice from here. Really refreshing! I've tried so many and still have many more to taste.
I always buy by the pint. I've done larger as well. Butt he pricing gets pretty crazy after the quart size. I would recommend trying the spumoni flavor. It's an old flavor…still very good.
I'm kind of bummed that they dont have the chocolate hazelnut…don't know why..but please, bring it back! That is my all time fave!!!
I'm pretty frequent at the Union Turnpike and Bayside locations. I'm thankful there are a bunch of locations!! I need Ralph in my life!!!
If you haven't tried them, YOU MUST!!! Everything's good here.
3.5/5
Because Ralph's Italian Ices sells ices(duh), there's really not much for me to grieve about. I'm more of an ice cream aficionado. Anyhow, I must point out that Ralph's is pretty good at what it does.
I got two different scoops of Orange & Creme and Key Lime(cream-based ices) in a small cup($3.50). Just wondering, how much sugar does Ralph's dump into its various concoctions? I felt as if I was almost going to pass out from the influx of sugar! Anyhow, the flavors were really spot-on: Orange & Creme tasted like an orange creamsicle, and Key Lime tasted very tangy and lime-y. Interestingly, Key Lime had an unusual alien green color. I just don't like tasting the watery aftertaste.
For a place that specializes in ices, I was quite impressed by the texture of the ices. It wasn't like slush, but soft and creamy. I wouldn't get the chocolate or vanilla flavored ices, though. I've tried one at the Flatiron location on 23rd street, and the taste reminded me of Ovaltine. To be on the safe side, I'd stick with fruit-based flavors.
Ralph's Italian ices…more than just ices. Yummy ice cream and shakes too. 2 different types of ices, with and without milk. Wish they opened all year
