Ramen Takumi
“At $11-13 per bowl, the ramen sounds pricy, but don't forget this is Murray Hill and overhead must be through the roof.”
“Had the Tan-tan tsukemen — flavor was pretty good but personally thought it could be hotter both temperature-wise and spiciness.”
“The David Ramen was delicious and I was able to add two pieces of shrimp tempura instead of the pork.”

This place is so mediocre. Like absolutely, terribly bad. The noodles are not chewy at all and resembles the yellow noodles from Chinese fried noodle dishes. The meet was also too fatty. The broth had no taste. Nothing redeeming. The ambiance is okay, but the food is just so bad – a pity since it was so close to us. Thank you momosan for saving us from Ramen Takumi!
An extraordinarily mediocre bowl of ramen. Chewy meat, decent broth, lame egg, good bamboo shoots. If you have a craving and are too lazy to go downtown, then this will do.
Not great but not bad either. This is a small space (isn't everything in NYC?!) and was empty when I went. It was around 3pmish so after the lunch crowd and before dinner starts.
The ramen here is ok – I chose the Spicy and it wasn't that spicy. The broth really wasn't particularly flavourful and the noodles were flat of any texture or taste. Meh.
The restaurant is clean and the service wS really friendly so points for that.
I wouldn't come back here again – I'm sure there is much better places to get your noodle on in the city.
Mom and I had a craving for ramen on a cold day but didn't want to go anywhere. Ramen takumi saved the day! Within 25 minutes we had 2 hot bowls in our hands on the couch.
My mom had the curry ramen which was delicious. My extra spicy tan tan men was even better. The broth came separated from the meats and veggies so nothing went soggy. Will be ordering from here again!
Ramen Takumi is a hidden gem. Anyone ramen place out there has pork broth ramen, and I won't come to Ramen Takumi if that's what I want, because they don't have any pork based broths. However, they do cater to those who love ramen but want chicken or vegetable based broths. I had never had chicken broth ramen before, so I don't have much to compare it to. I ordered the Shio Ramen. It's definitely not as rich as pork broth ramen, but it wasn't bland! The ramen noodles were cooked well and the pork slices were soft and not dry at all. And oh the choices. There must be at least a dozen different ramens on colorful menu. I wanted to try them all. Next time I'm definitely trying David's Shoyu Ramen, the Hangover Ramen, and the Kimchi Ramen to name a few. They also have a wide selection of appetizers on the menu in addition to various rice bowls, should you not want ramen. Super impressive for such a small store. I wouldn't recommend coming here with a large group. There is traditional ramen seating at a bar in front of the chefs as well as regular table seats.
The service here was spectacular. Very attentive. We made a connection with one of the servers over my cell phone case, and I think because of that, they gave us a complimentary bottle of a green tea soft drink and a green tea mochi ice cream! I understand this is not the norm, but it definitely enhanced our experience!
All in all, I was very impressed with Ramen Takumi. Though they won't satisfy my craving for pork-based ramen, they're a great alternative to those with specific dietary needs and I would gladly stop in for a hot bowl of ramen.
I'm not going to claim to be a ramen expert, but I really really like this place. First off, I've never waited more than 15 minutes for my food. during the winter months when im just craving a bowl of ramen to warm me up its nice to know that i can just walk in here and have one in front of me in a relatively short period of time. the servers themselves have always been super friendly and super in tune to when i need a new water/beer. speaking of beer–if you show up during happy hour you can get a free beer or dumpling with your ramen order, which is nice. ive been to other ramen places around the city, and honestly this place's selection holds up in terms of variety, lots of different types of bowls. not a whole lot of meat/pork based broths though, if thats what youre looking for. my favorite is the curry ramen–the perfect balance of sweet and spicy. i usually ask to switch out the chicken it comes with for pork, and its never been a problem. if youre in the neighborhood id definitely say try out this place out, its never let me down.

Cons
Everyone in my group loved their ramen, save for myself. I ordered a ramen that had ginger in it. It was supposed to be spicy but the ginger made the broth excessively sweet. I would visit again if I'm staying in the neighborhood, but probably would not re-order that ramen again.
Looks better than it tastes. I got the miso ramen, pork ramen (starts with a t), shrimp tempura, and tan tan men. So I was just asking if they had some type of pork belly ramen because I didn't see it and the guy was really rude about it. He was like pointing at the menu and looking at me like do you read. Like yeah dude I can read and it was just a question to point me in the right direction…
Shrimp tempura was not crunchy- soggy in fact. The broth is really salty and I am pretty sure there is some type of msg in there. I was so thirsty after eating. Noodles are average- not really the ramen kind. The ramen costs about $13 each. My ramen had half an egg and two pieces of meat in there….not satisfying.
For the price you can def get better ramen elsewhere. Service wasn't really friendly which turned me off. I wouldn't come back.
