I must say could have not been happier with my first experience with Colombian food. A friend of mine took me to Rancho Mateo and recommended for me to order the Bandeja Paisa which is served with rice, beans, steak, egg, pork skin & avocado – basically a little of everything to try. For $14 that dish was anything but little. Huge portion and excellent taste. We also ordered empanadas as a starter, which came fresh and a side of two different salsa. They have a large case displaying their deserts; pt was packed with beautiful looking pastries but unfortunately the Tres Lecas cake was on the dry side. The waitress was very friendly and did a good job of making sure our drinks were full and we were satisfied. While the wait was a little long, I do not mind as you can absolutely tell that everything is cooked fresh. The restaurant has some cute decor and gives you plenty of things to look at, the large place provides plenty of tables to service large parties. Overall, if you find yourself in the Elizabeth area try to grab a bite here.
