Ray Bari is a good place to go under certain circumstances. You know, if you're in a rush, and just need a quick slice of something greasy. Middle school kids come here to dine, more people than not do take-away (although there IS ample seating).
I like the chicken broccoli slice (chicken is grilled, not fried like many other places) and the plain Neapolitan. Haven't tried anything with the sausage cause it looks a little on the questionable side. To echo a few other reviews, the sauce is good, and the crust is thicker than most NYC joints. I like this on occasion, though, so a chain like Ray Bari is good to have around. Also – the crust is always CRISPY — a trait that I love which is often hard to find.
Service is fast-ish, the guys who work there are super friendly.
I'm from Cali. I loved the pizza! For a whole huge pie, it was about $20. It was delicious and fed 6 adults. We ordered half sausage and half pepperoni/mushroom. Okay, yeah, it was canned mushroom slices, but so what…it did well with the salty piled on pepperoni. Okay, and the sausage was broken into tiny pieces (almost ground), but so what…it was delicious. I loved the sweet red sauce which didn't overwhelm the rest of the toppings, and the crust was thin and maleable to fold the pizza in half (you know, the way you're supposed to eat a NY pizza slice!). Way better flavor than "Ray's Pizza". More expensive, but so what…it was worth it. I think the best deal is to buy a whole pie or a personal size versus a slice.
What can you say about a slice that has dense dough, flavorless cheese, and overly sweet sauce?
I've eaten at Ray Bari a few times, usually when I'm in the mood for a quick slice and don't see any other obvious options. It definitely fills you up, but that's about it for positives. Actually, the filling up part isn't really a positive; the slices are heavy like lead and can make you feel a bit foul after the fact.
In the end, it's hard to find anything redeeming about this place. It's probably better to wait until there are better choices available than give in and eat here.
The pizza here is just pizza nothing spectacular in my book the 3 stars are actually for the Zeppolles which is the only reason i keep coming back. They make the zeppolles fresh every time and they are delicious!! The freshness is actually why I come here for more expensive ones when I could get them 4 for a dollar in Harlem (those usually sit around for hours :/)

There are a gazillion Ray Baris (and let's not even talk about Rays vs. Original Rays vs. Ray Bari's).
Anyhow for $3 a slice it better be good – but often it ain't.
You can get a quick pasta/chicken parm lunch here for around $7.
Whatever.
