I had walked out of the Ridgewood location back on Mother's day, due to a limited menu and having our name initially skipped while waiting outside.
My co-workers and I have a weekly ritual of grabbing brunch after our Tuesday meetings. We found ourselves here as we'd never been and heard it was superior (being the original and all). Well, the Montclair location's menu is just as small and after taking a good glance, I saw that the food was pricey as well. I went with the quiche which came with salad for $12 bucks. It was a slice of quiche, and while good, I could find bigger and better for cheaper in Manhattan so that's saying something.
Service was good and interior is nice and bright, but most likely won't be back.
Gave this place another try today after attending church. Service was so much better today! Although it was a lot busier, I still only waited about 10 minutes for a table. Our server was attentive and always checked in. Food was great! Thanks to our waiter for running after me to return my cell phone which I had left at the table!!
The place is big enough where there was no wait at 11:00am for a table on a Sunday even though it was pretty busy. Service was a bit slow. Took a while for the waitress to offer us coffee and we basically had to flag her down to get some.
Food was delicious though. I had the Breakfast Burrito and my friend went with the Winter Farm Scramble. Everything was delicious and cooked perfectly. Just wish service was a little faster.
Got tired of B'fast in Diners on sunday, so we decided my wife and I to cruise in Montclair for a real Petit dejeuner. The spicy hot chocolate with big fat original marshmallow was excellent, I had two of the hot chocolate. I had huevos Ranchero and my wife the salmon egg benedict, Love the inside decor like a french brasserie, came early by 10:30, people were waiting outside so come early. Nice place to have B'fast and read the Sunday NY times.
Been here on several occasions for practically all meals — brunch, lunch, & dinner. So that alone should tell you that this is definitely worth a shot! Time for breakdown.
Brunch — Salmon Eggs Benedict, Quinoa breakfast bowl for dad, and a cappuccino for each. Maybe it's my love of breakfast food-bias, but this was my absolute favorite meal here. Or maybe it was something about the love of a Sunday brunch after a glorious Sunday Funday run. But it was one of my favorite brunch spots that I've ever been to. And next time when I'm feeling more adventurous I cannot wait to try the French Toast that I saw being brought to numerous tables.
Lunch/Dinner — Boring, but my go to has always been the Cobb salad. I just love the way its prepared here. Mom's favorite is the turkey burger. She says its the "best burger she's had in a long time" since she does not eat red meat anymore. I will say that it is on the more pricey side for a salad, but sometimes I bring some home with me for a mini-meal for the next day.
One odd occasion was when i ordered the salad to go, picked it up, got back home only to find there was no chicken on the salad. Called and spoke to the manger who apologized and insisted that my salad be replaced. Luckily I only live a short walk away, went back, accepted their homemade cookies as an "I'm sorry" only to find some extra chicken thrown in a box instead of a brand new salad like promised. Otherwise, Have not had any issues with this place and will be returning.
I was excited about brunch here after all the rave reviews and a great recommendation from my bf's dad who is a fellow foodie. When we arrived at 2:50 pm on a Sunday, it was packed. The wait was about 20 minutes. The presentation of the food was nice, but that's about it. The butternut squash didn't have much flavor. The huevos rancheros and con Carnitas dishes were just ok. I had to send mine back, because it was cooked poach style. My bf sent the Belgian hot cocoa back, because it didn't taste quite right (but he did say he liked the bit of marshmallow he had; but it wasn't enough to save it. If you have to send back hot cocoa something's off.) Our waitress seemed very inexperienced ("I don't usually work brunch") and wound up disappearing lol. Luckily someone else was nearby able to help us out and provide better service. But there was never an explanation. Everything was just lackluster. I do love the fact that they serve brunch until 4pm. Maybe we ordered the wrong things or our expectations were too high? Overall, we were very disappointed and won't be returning 🙁
It's been at least a year since I've been here and decided to come here again for lunch during the week and to my surprise, it was already crowded with a few tables occupied outside as well. The service is good, wait staff are very friendly and attentive. The space can get a bit loud almost like an echo especially when all tables are occupied. The food taste fresh, it's in abundance and they provided what's needed to make mimosas. Overall it's a great spot for brunch/lunch.
Came here with my coworkers for brunch. It's decorated very much like the Ridgewood location, homey and hip. Service was good, our waitress was friendly. The menu is identical to the Ridgewood location, and still pretty limited. Unfortunately, the food is about the same, and still overpriced. ($7.50 for 2 eggs, homes fries, and toast?)
I ordered the quinoa bowl, which had spinach, pickled carrots, avocado, two poached eggs, and of course, quinoa. It was a little bit salty, but it tasted great. Portion was a bit small, and for the price, I probably could've gotten steak and eggs elsewhere.
Came here for brunch twice with my boyfriend.
I had the Raymond's omelette with spinach and avocado and it was absolutely delicious.
He had pancakes and some very elaborate egg dish I can't remember what it was, though.
I don't think you can go wrong with this place, just if you come for Sunday brunch like we did, be prepared to wait.
The hot chocolate and marshmallows look amazing here, have yet to try them.
