  1. The NY winter has been terrible for a multitude of reasons, one that has kept Ray's Famous BBQ cart out of action. For those not in the know, this is the only Filipino BBQ cart that I've been able to find anywhere in NYC. How fitting that it's setup in Woodside and across a Catholic church for many Filipinos frequenting the area.

There are only a handful of things on their menu, but the meat is where it's at. Ray fires up some killer kebabs with Filipino seasoning and it's got that crispy caramelization (read: sweet!) that makes for a big difference in flavor and fun. There are rice combos as well and even our favorite lumpiang spring rolls that may as well be the gateway to all Filipino fare.

The prices are solid: $6 for a platter, $3-4 for chicken / pork skewers, and something like $2-3 for the lumpia. There are no credit cards for this meal, it's straight cash homie. Best of all, Ray does it all with a smile and is one of the friendliest dudes in in a cart. Bonus points for the music videos playing from the baller LCDs attached to the front of the cart.

Fingers crossed that the cart returns soon. There is only so much Mexican and Halal street food that one can take — mix it up with some of Ray's Famous BBQ.
