  1. Meh, it was OK
Hungry and looking for a slice, it will hit the spot
    Nothing to write about..

  2. Famous Ray's Pizza? I don't get it.

First night in NYC. Had to get a slice of that famous NYC pizza, right? Taken from several recommendations (NYC visitors, locals, doormen at our hotel, etc.), they said Rays was the place to go! Excited… and hungry… we trekked to the nearest Rays to have our first slice.

    – Nice Service
    – Cheap
    – Pizzas sitting under a heat lamp display case.
    – Pizza then taken out of the display case and put in the oven for a minute or two.
    – Get soda and pay.
    – Small area for seating (a few barstools and tables)
    – Costco size chili flakes, parm cheese, garlic powder, etc.

Pizza itself: not good. Dominos has better quality.

  3. As I was waiting in Central Park for Shakespeare in the Park tickets on Sunday morning, I suddenly felt a pang of hunger in my stomach – and it was no wonder, as I had no time to eat breakfast.  Given my budgetary constraints and the amount of money I was anticipating spending later that day, I decided to go for something that wasn't expensive.  I also had no cash on me so I needed to find a place that took credit cards.  Ray's Pizza ended up being the place for me – after some debate with myself, I ordered a cheese calzone with meatballs inside.  The calzone was decently-sized, but I was disappointed by how it tasted.  I am under the impression that calzones need to have some sort of sauce in them.  Generally, I get tomato sauce in mine.  The calzone I got from Ray's Pizza was really dry and had no sauce in it.  All it contained was ricotta and mozzarella cheese.  I couldn't finish half of it since it was way too cheesy without having any sort of balancing factor like sauce.  I really should have just ordered a pizza from Ray's Pizza – it would have been cheaper and probably would have tasted better.  I've heard from friends that the pizza is delicious – I think I'll go ahead and order pizza next time.

  4. Quick bite on the go….no pizza is BAD pizza but when your in NY there is always better pizza:)

  5. Fast service, pretty good pizza, and a lot of seating with an impressively large, nice and clean seating area in the back.

We came here after the macys parade balloon inflation so it was packed. They did a great job accommodating a mass of people with kids, families and police officers, and there was plenty of seating despite the crowds.

We ordered the buffalo pizza and i especially liked the healthier choice of tomato mozzarella pizza with a whole grain crust.

Also, a pizza place with seating that has window treatments in the back? I had never seen that, and again despite the crowds the staff stayed on top of keeping all the tables clean.

  6. Very good delivery in the neighborhood. I like both the classic pepperoni and the margarita with fresh mozzarella.

  7. Ray's delivers solid good pizza, not the best in the city, but a good choice.

  8. This review can be summed up in 4 words "It's better than Sbarro"

If you find yourself in Times Square late one night and absolutely starving you could do much worse than this place. The slices are very good size and they had several different kinds to choose from. A quick reheat in the oven and you have a nice warm crispy snack to stave off the hunger.

This certainly isn't a place I would seek out, but like I said, you could do much worse.
