  1. The was a very nice find after my MOH and I went to another location. We were in search of someplace to eat after a failed attempt at another restaurant. I am happy that I had this place bookmarked.

Once we stepped inside, it was nicely decorated. The hostess was very friendly. We were seated at our table ( which for me was a little too close to each other but I managed ). On the table there are placemat menus (cute) a tin pail with a drink menu and napkins. Our waitress brought us over a carafe of water we could pour ourselves. All the food all looks so delicious which made it difficult to choose. I ended up ordering a lobster cob salad and she ordered the lobster cheese fries. We decided to split a Connecticut lobster roll no sides.

I enjoyed my salad with the exception of the Bleu cheese crumbles. Not a big fan and it quickly can overpower the taste of any dish. She enjoyed her fries but it was in need of a little black pepper. We were full at that point so took the roll to go. I also ordered a lemonade which was quite refreshing.

  2. Driving back from IKEA I notice the bright red umbrellas and painted wall. I pulled over to check in with Yelp and lo and behold this is on my bookmark list! Who needs eggs for brunch when you can have a lobster. I was able to score a table outside under a big umbrella. Looking at the paper menu I went with the lobster french fries which were OK it would've been better if the big claw meat was mixed throughout the fries. The mai tai was delicious and refreshing and my main entrée was the Connecticut style lobster which was warm and buttery.  I will be back.

  3. First visit to the Pound since they added the full restaurant! Wow! It's amazing how much the menu has expanded since back in the day when it was just lobster and shrimp rolls. Though the old favorites like the Maine and CT rolls are still here, now when you come here you can get everything from a burger to fried clams, oysters, chowder and crab cakes to a full lobster dinner. They also have a full bar now.

The new space is beautiful, and was cram packed on a Sunday night. We were seated right away and had our beers within a few minutes. Since everything sounded so good we decided to get two appetizers-the fried clams and crab dip. We also ordered a Maine lobster roll combo and crab cake sandwich with potato salad. For two of us this was a ton of food, but it was so yummy we still killed it.

The clam strips were perfect, and the crab dip and chips were incredible. The Maine lobster roll was stellar as always and the crab cake sandwich was as well. One of the highlights of both these is the buttered warm New England style potato bread. The potato salad was really standout-and even though there was a guilt factor i'm glad I picked it over fries and salad.
Don't forget to check out the bathroom before you leave, it is super trippy.

Anyway, congrats to RHLP on this amazing expansion. We will be back for sure! Well done:)

  4. I had my first Red Hook Lobster Pound lobster roll at Smorgasburg in Williamsburg last year.  With my love of shellfish and cravings for lobster in the summer months, I'm always on the lookout for best roll!  Although I do love Luke's Lobster for its mayo-less lobster salad in a perfectly toasted bun, Red Hook's is just as good and more generous with its serving.

The BF & I decided to explore Red Hook this past weekend and had a great lunch at the OG Lobster Pound.  After a short 20 minute wait, we were ready to chow down on some delicious seafood.  The BF obviously had to order the Bloody Mary avec lobster claw, which is how every Bloody Mary should be served!  Knowing that we had a full day of drinking and a dinner at Hometown BBQ ahead, we decided to share an appetizer and a roll.  The fresh clam strips with citrus mayo were dangerously delicious and of course, the Maine lobster roll was perfect (with slaw, pickle, and potato salad on the side).

If I were cool and rich enough, I would totally host a fabulous lobster extravaganza party at the Pound.  Fortunately, we have the RHLP pop-up at the Seaport Smorgasburg just a few blocks from our home.  🙂

  5. Been here for take out a couple times and have visited their Brooklyn flea locations. This was my first time eating in and it was as good as I hoped.

    Good chowder

Same quality NE lobster rolls to their food stands . Which is a positive

    Good cocktails at reasonable prices

    Yummy $1 oysters 4-7pm

  6. It is a really nice spot that is super cheap. I had a lobster cheese fries which was very good. I was surprised about how much lobster I had. It is a really great place to visit.

  7. Came back here after several years…I don't know why.  But I am glad that I did come back.  It changed for the good.

To my surprise, there's a restaurant area now, which is great….they serve alcohol, which is even better. Helps digest the food better…lol

I still do not like the taste of their New England Clam Chowder…it's very different and unique way of taste from the original clam chowder.  And the cole slaw is blah…I kid you not.

The lobster rolls, any of ways, is delicious.  Chunks of lobster tails and lobsters in general.  The price is reasonable for what you are getting for any lobster rolls.

  8. If I had to give this review based soley on my lobster roll and lobster cheese fries? 5 STARS! But since Im not, three unsure stars it is.

Love the atmosphere, reminds me of exactly what a lobster shack should be. The waitress didn't seem to enjoy being a waitress. We started off with some clam strips and they were amazing. We proceeded to order and they were out of the New England Seafood Boil so I asked for a lobster roll and asked for the fries to be lobster cheese fries. instead of a surcharge, she rang it up as the $16 cheese fries appetizer and roll a la cart ($18) which in hind sight I wouldn't have wanted. (It came out to $34 instead of the $22 dish plus  whatever surcharge it would have been). I also asked if they had anything for kids and she named a few kid friendly things off of the menu that I had already read. When she mention a burger I said OK- that will do just a plain burger with no cheese nothing, bun and patty. When we got the check, we were charged $15. In my mind, they would have given us a kids size or kids price – my toddler had two bites and was done with it. My mother ordered the lobster dinner and they just boiled the lobster and threw it on the platter – no splitting of the tail or anything and we had to ask and wait for the proper utensils to crack the lobster.

The drunken cherry lemonade was really good. Over all, I love the idea of the place…but the way our waitress acted and handled pricing or ordering was awful. Sucks because I will travel an hour plus for a good lobster roll. I guess I will be sticking to the lobster joint.
