This would not be on my list of places to eat but my boyfriend likes Red Lobster every once in awhile. It was just okay for me, food & service wise. Went for an early Sunday dinner. We were seated within about 5 minutes. It took the waiter a little time to get over to us right off the bat…
We started with 2 frozen cocktails which were good. We placed our food order after we got our drinks. First came the biscuits & salads. I ordered the Caesar. It was good except I had to pick out a few brownish pieces. Then it seemed to take quite some time before the food arrived. I was dying for some water but the waiter never came back to check on us until he brought the food out.
I'm not into fish so I tried the NY strip steak with mashed potato & green beans. I ordered it medium – medium wellish. It came pretty much on the well done side. It tasted ok though. My boyfriend ordered the ultimate feast. He liked his meal a lot. After the food was served to us, it took a long time before the waiter came back to check on us. When we finished eating, we were trying to find him to ask for the check & to wrap some leftovers. Finally found him… He never asked us if we would like coffee &/or dessert. Overall, just a so so experience.
This review is about cheddar biscuits. They're free, delicious and I wish I could eat these every day without consequence. I don't come here because of the atmosphere or the crowd or the cheerful staff. Just the biscuits. Even after the hostess informs me of the 40 min wait just for a table for 2, I take a deep breath and think : cheddar biscuits.
Red Lobster is one of my favorite chains. Sometimes you need to indulge in everything dipped in butter seafood with your significant other or a group of friends. Everything in moderation including moderation my friends. There are plenty of non fried items and I usually add veggie sides to make to remove any quilt. Similar to the double cheeseburger & diet coke folks. Portions are huge and pretty decent for the prices. Is it the best seafood you ever had? Probably not. Is it better than most overpriced City Island venues? Definitely.
The environment is casual and can be a bit noisy on crowded evenings. Staff will not try to wow you like Joe's Crab Shack. As long as they bring out those cheddar biscuits the moment you sit down, then why you mad???
Every time I come to this location there's a long wait, which is understandable considering the dearth of good restaurant options in the area. My last trip here was for my birthday on a Saturday night and the wait for a table was about 40 minutes long. The service is always great and I couldn't even tell you about the wait for food because those cheddar biscuits distract from any anger that may come from waiting a while for food. They're SO good & they're free so that's even better!
Since it was my birthday my fiance and I ordered a Lobsterita (which, if I'm not mistaken is part of the whole Lobsterfest thing). When we saw "extra-large margarita" on the menu neither of us thought we'd be getting a drink that was literally bigger than our heads. I had the raspberry on the rocks which I enjoyed (and finished – hey, it was my birthday!) but my fiance wasn't a fan of his, it was a bit too tart.
The food is alright, much like you'd expect from a seafood chain. Nothing really stands out to me in particular. I do appreciate that they include calories on the menu and the cost is pretty good, though for the quality of food it should honestly be cheaper. With our gigantic drinks, tax & tip, our bill for two came up to $70. It's a great family establishment but if you're bringing kids beware the long wait to be seated, they're bound to get antsy.
My boyfriend and I have always been big Red Lobster fans. But we were seriously disappointed with out experience last night. We have eaten at this restaurant, and many other locations literally hundreds of times. It is always our go to place. Last night our experience took us almost two hours! I tend to get shy at restaurants, and I never complain on site. But i came pretty close last night.
All we ordered last night was two bowls of soup, and then two appetizer dishes. We did not order any menu entrees or anything like that. Pretty simple meal.
I did not catch the waiters name… he was a young man.. very nice… but gosh this must have been his first night or something because he was all over the place. I really do not know where to start with him. It took us 20 minutes to get water…. we did not even get silverware and napkins until the second hour we were there and our food was at the table. It took us almost an hour to get our soup. By the time it got to us it was cold, and just not fresh. We love the soup there but something tasted weird this time around. Not to mention it was super salty!
maybe 25 minutes later our appetizers came (we ordered appetizers as our entrees). The waiter kept apologizing for the wait, and he offered us a free dessert which was nice. The appetizers were okay in flavor, but still came to us cold! That is really frustrating! I wanted to ask him for other stuff but we did not feel like waiting around. After 20 minutes later we finally got the check, and we just left hungry.
It is really frustrating when a business is that unprepared. I hate to whine, but it really ruined the night off for us. We wish this place would get our act together because it is so close to us, and it is conveinent to come here during the week for dinner.
I'm only giving this restaurant 3 stars because of my server Natasha. She was very patient and helpful even though she forgot about me when it was time to receive and pay my check.
As for my experience at Red Lobster, it was pretty lousy and very unorganized. When I arrived at the restaurant, it was pretty empty from what I could see however due to the short staff as I was told by the hostess I still had to wait before I could be seated mind you I went earlier this afternoon so it wasn't crowded at all. Once I was seated I noticed that the area wasn't very clean and there was an annoying fly flying around my seating area.
I usually dine at the Red Lobster in Times Square but I ended up going to this location because it's closer to my house and I didn't want to travel too far with my daughter. For what it was worth I should have just gone to City Island instead.
Good food, servers are nice, expect long wait times since this is within a mall shopping area.
Before today, I hadn't been to Red Lobster in years but the Endless Shrimp was calling out to me! I decided to go for lunch. For a table of 3, the wait was 5-10 minutes so not bad. I saw the line get worst throughout our time there though. Our server was nice when we first sat down but as the restaurant got busier, he was nonexistent. Our salads and drinks came our quick but then everything started going downhill. My friend ordered lemonade but said it tasted weird due to the lemon flakes inside it so she asked for a Sprite. The Sprite was flat and tasted like seltzer water. She asked for a Dr. Pepper instead and it was flat. When my friend told the server, he said he would send the manager over. Also, our server put a pitcher of water on our table but took our cups away so I had to keep asking another sever for a cup and for sauce for my shrimp.
Endless shrimp orders: hand-breaded shrimp (flavorless), shrimp Alfredo linguine (best one), sriracha grilled shrimp (too much sauce on first order), Parmesan shrimp scampi (bland and I scrapped off the Parmesan), another order of sriracha grilled shrimp (less sauce, tasted better), and coconut shrimp bites (good). Came with Caesar salad and wild rice pilaf.
My endless shrimp took forever to come and we never got our cheddar biscuits refilled. The manager eventually came over and was very polite. He gave a free strawberry lemonade to my friend and be personally brought out my shrimp orders and gave me multiple orders at a time. Also gave us a dozen biscuits to go. It did take a little longer to get our to go order we were getting for someone and for our checks. Meanwhile our server would come each time and just drop things off without acknowledgment. He even gave us back our checks and payment without processing them.
We arrived at the restaurant a little after 3pm and we left after 5pm. That's how long it took to eat. I was hesitant to come to this location because I avoid most chains in NYC and this confirmed why.
Bar service was the worssssssssssssssst at this location, man. I was just trying to get a lil' app before my meal, and I don't know how anyone in service can wait on someone without ever saying a word or making eye contact. I'm not even asking for a smile here.
This place is truly a zoo on Fridays and Saturdays. I'm not sure I've ever seen anything like it. It's really dirty inside, completely packed, and the wait is about 2 hours. I'd be OK with 2 hours if it truly was, but we were told 45mins, which became 1.5 hrs, which in reality was 2 hrs. Can a brutha get the truth (and a clean table to eat on?)?
