  1. Definitely an old-school kind of place with great service.  We recently had breakfast here after my husband ran the NYRR 5K in the neighborhood.  Considering that thousands of people were around, we thought we'd be waiting a long time, but they seated us in 10 minutes and had us nourished another 10 minutes after that.  The food was good, the service was great.  Would definitely recommend breakfast here if you are in the neighborhood.

Our server offered us hot sauce and it was AWESOME!  Definitely check it out.

  2. If you are looking for a super-fast, delicious bite to eat that's conveniently right next to the exit to A/C/1 trains at 168, this is where you should head.  I've come here a lot of times when I was in a hurry and always had speedy service. Not only is the service quick, but generally about 5-10 minutes after ordering my food it is sitting in front of me. The wait staff is diligent about refilling your coffee, which is a huge plus for the caffeine addict in me.

    Other positives:
-They serve breakfast all day! I love breakfast food so this is an enormous bonus.
-Their portions are generous, and their prices are top notch (think less than $10 for an enormous plate of food that is near impossible to finish for an average person).
-It could seriously not be any closer to the train station without actually being inside the train station.

It's pretty standard diner-fare as far as food and ambiance are considered, but worth it if you are on a budget or in a rush!

  3. This place is really cheap for breakfast specials if you come in before 11am. The food isn't spectacular, and I would recommend staying away from the pancakes. They have good diner coffee and a lot of options for breakfast.  The service isn't great, but if you're looking for an economic option in Washington Heights, this is a go-to.

  4. My buddy goes to Med school down the street so I took him here for breakfast.  We came late after the special had ended so we just ordered off the regular menu.

I ordered the ham steak and eggs which tasted great.  The ham was actually of good quality. My fried ordered an omelet which was gigantic.  The glaring negative was the chocolate cake that we added at the end. It tasted like it came from a Betty Crocker powder.   Service was great. All in all for the price and location — Reme's was a ok!

  5. This place is a clasic coffee shop, I had a pretty good greek omlet, granted I asked for sausgae and they gave it to me on the side, but it's like 6 bucks, so really for the price you cant go wrong.

  6. 3.5 stars. Better than your average diner! Yay I love you Washington Heights!

The best friend lives a few blocks away, so after looking for lunch on a Sunday, we stopped by this cute place.

She ordered sirloin steak that came with grilled onions, mashed potatoes, soup, and a veggie side. I got the veggie burger deluxe with fries made into a wrap.

Food was pretty decent sized for the prices. It wasn't the best in the world, it's obviously a diner and the whole point of a diner is large variety of food to pick from when you are hungover.

Everything on the steak was canned and reheated except the onions and steak. I wonder if the gravy is packaged. The chicken soup is straight up Campbell's!

My veggie burger wrap was underwhelming, but decent with a side of cole slaw. I like the fries, they are not too greasy. They're obviously not fresh but it was filling enough when you are hungry and diner food hits the spot.

Also great service! Better than your average diner. Our waiter was funny and not overly attached like many that check on you too much.

The best part of the meal was a table of 8 hipster Caucasian folks next to us that stayed LONG after they were done eating started loudly comparing TV show actor performances. One guy was so bored he started fixing his watch. I mean, the things you don't get anywhere else in Manhattan!

  7. We come here for breakfast/brunch all the time as it's essentially free (less than $4 for coffee + juice, eggs and hashbrowns).  What with the state of the economy, I think I actually make money by eating here.   I don't understand investing.   ANYWAY.

The rest of the menu is also great, including the Greek salad which is insanely large and their pancakes and waffles.  You can't go wrong.  The waiters are so friendly and great and the food comes out real zippy-like.  A most excellent spot in WaHi, just off the A train.

  8. So this is a great little neighborhood diner.  No wonder the Columbia kids flock here.  From the outside, you might feel persuaded to just keep moving, but once you get inside, it's a cute little place with that old dinner charm.  The food is solid.  It's not gourmet, but it comes in healthy portions and is tasty.  The price is perfect and about as cheap as you'll find in the city.  Cash only!!
