Great place for brunch. Very hipster-looking place in the Wythe Hotel. We were there over a long weekend Monday and it wasn't very busy surprisingly. Had a great French Toast which changes seasonally and the menu had just changed so the fruit was plums. The French Toast was nice a fluffy and the plums and nuts were a different addition which tasted great. Topped with mascarpone cream and blueberries and a few bits of rosemary which sounded unusual but worked well together.
Our party also tried the burger (good) and the omelette topped with deep fried oysters (not my thing, but they liked it). Next time we will head upstairs, heard the rooftop has the best view!
Went here for a friend's bachelorette party dinner and had an amazing time! The restaurant itself is beautiful and I loved the decor and ambiance.
Great service from our server (who was also pretty hot). He was funny and super patient and went over the wine and food menu with us, taking time to explain each item and helped us choose the right amount of food (and alcohol) for 7 people to partake.
Ordered several bottles of rose for the group to share. It was enjoyable and well suited for a group of varying tastes. We started off with the tomatoes appetizer and the beef carpaccio. Both were delicious. The tomatoes were very fresh and tangy, which paired well with the ricotta and peaches. The carpaccio was really yummy as well, sliced super thin with a tomato relish.
For mains, we got two orders of scallops, a half chicken, duck breast, and grass-fed beef, plus a side of braised kale. Couldn't really get a consensus of the favorites among the group, but needless to say everything was really delicious. For me, the big surprise was the chicken. I personally almost never order chicken from a restaurant because it's too easy to overcook. This dish was sublime. The chicken was juicy, tender, and so flavorful. Also loved the scallops, which were perfectly seared and tender, and paired great with the aioli. The duck and beef were also great as well. We split a peach cobbler and chocolate custard cake for desserts, and let's just say they disappeared pretty quickly.
The restaurant appears to change its menu pretty regularly. While I'm sad that they won't have the same amazing food I had this time, I'm also excited to try the new amazing dishes they'll have next time I come back.
PS – If you dine at Reynard, you get to skip the long line to go to Ides Bar on the 6th floor of the hotel.
+++
– No tipping, thas cool
(I'm gonna think this is why they are so expensive)
++
– The waiters go out of their way to make you feel like you're the only one
+
– Food is very well presented. This a great place to bring a date, or your mom
– The atmopshere and decor makes it great for dates and moms as well
– wife seemed to enjoy the asparagus salad although she didn't say much about it
– Fried chicken was good, albeit kind of greasy
Really digging their bar atmosphere. Dimly lit, tall ceiling, brick walls with huge windows. Nice, mellow vibe. Impressed with their wine line. I ordered a glass of rosé which was delicious. I glanced at the menu and the entrées I would go for they were out of. Nothing else seemed appealing.
Ambivalent about this place. Love the brunch but I feel like dinner missed the mark. Service was accommodating as I was an hour late. Recommend this for brunch
Are u f-ing kidding me?! This restaurant need to be ashamed of itself. Why? Because I have never had such an mediocre meal at such an astronomical price in New York F-ing City. It's been three weeks since I was at this wanna be hip restaurant in the Wythe Hotel but I still feel "angry" about my experience…kinda like you had high hopes the date, but your date turned out to be just an a-hole.
Let me first say my review has nothing to do with the Wythe Hotel, which is excellent. My review also has nothing to do with the waitstaff, as they, too are attentive and friendly.
My review, however, is based on the 1 3/4 lbs grass fed ribeye I ordered, which turned out to be 1 1/4 lbs worth of bone and maybe 1/2 lbs of meat. Mind you Peter Lugers is 5 min away and my steak there would've tasted better and costed less. The price alone is not the issue: it's what you get in return. This is probably the worst steak I have tasted…EVER! The poor f-ing cow died for nothing. My wife who's one of the least picky eater, she didn't even finish her meal.
I felt this restaurant was formed by wanna be hipsters that haphazardly decided to charge what they want and are surrounded by uninformed patrons who equate "expensive" with quality. Please do us a favor: either fire your executive chef or close the place already. Are the Williamsburg Hipsters became a bunch of uninformed posers?
F#ck it was aweful! Okay I'm glad I got that out of my system.
I came here for a group lunch on Friday afternoon, and it was a intimate, classy environment. Great restaurant design, excellent service, and tasty food.
There were 6 of us, and each of us enjoyed our dishes. Their menu is seasonal and changes daily.
I got the duck confit and it was DELICIOUS! The meat was perfectly seasoned and cooked. Once the meat hit my tongue, I was immediately blown away. My 2 friends tried it, and they were equally impressed. The dish also had sauteed mushrooms (of some unique variety), and it absorbed all the dish flavors and had that indescribable umami taste. The other dish ingredients- nectarines, greens, sauce, etc.- tied everything together nicely. For $18, I was a happy camper.
Other people at the table got the dutch pancake, poached eggs, fish, etc. All were happy and no complaints.
I recommend this place for a nice meal in a quieter, classy environment. Get away from the hustle and bustle and come here.
This place is phenomenal. I had the wood fire sea bream and it was one of the most decisions meals I've had in my life. The ambience is fantastic. This will be a great place to host a fancy dinner party. I believe the menu changes on a daily basis so I can't wait to come back and discover other treats.
