Ricardo Steak House

“Ricardo's is one of maybe two reasons I'll trek back up to East Harlem after I move downtown later this spring.”

“There was a DJ playing a mix of new hits and old school rap and R&B and I can honestly say he is one of the best DJs I have ever heard.”

“Aunty and I ordered the biggest, prettiest ribeye steaks with garlic mashed potatoes, grilled shrimp and sautéed vegetables.”

  1. I went to Ricardo's as part of my week long birthday celebration the food was great and the Peach Sangria was excellent.  I ordered the Salmon and Asparagus It was delicious. The sauce that topped the Salmon was very flavorful.  I started out with Fried Calamari which is my signature appetizer. I suggest making a reservation because the place is small and seems to be a go to spot on a Friday night. Thats being said the wait is fairly lengthy. The music slightly loud in the mist of several other social gatherings. Many December Birthday were being celebrated. I did not try the steak but I hear its good there!

  2. Get the crash boat… Like a long island ice tea but way better.
The pinky swear was good but a little too sweet.

I had the skirt steak with veggies and mashed potatoes.  So much food! I couldn't finish but it was awesome.
My DC's got Ricardo's special platter and the mixed grill.  These two dishes were even bigger and definitely the winning dishes, with the plantains in the special platter and the chorizo in the mixed grill.  I'm told the pork chops were excellent as well.

DJ was great!  Place was packed on a Thursday even early.

    Harlem nights.

  3. I've been to Ricardo's a few times and mostly with co-workers to release the weekday of work stress. This was a popular place for a lot of colleagues who are city workers when I used to work in the Bronx. I've sat at the bar a few times and sat for dinner and the service has always been cool. You can easily tell they know their regulars and tend to cater to them, especially at the bar where it can get packed.

Now to the good stuff, the food is on point. Don't go to a steak house and order chicken you have to get the steak, even though I've had both.  LOL their steaks are nicely seasoned and delicious without putting a huge dent in your wallet.  The seats for dining are a bit close to each other but you should be too busy enjoying the food, drinks, company and ambiance. They play some good music and it also has that lounge feel.

This is definitely a place to check out, you won't be disappointed.

  4. Love this place! It had a very upbeat back atmosphere. There was a lot of eye candy there this particular day. I was visiting from Philly, so I'm not sure if that is an everyday occurrence. We had sangrias at the bar while we waiting for our table to become available. Very good. The music being played was 90's R&B and hip hop. While a great music choice, there were times the music felt a tad bit loud. It could've been where were seated. Love the picture of the Notorious B.I.G. in the dining room. I had 'The Mario'…Ribeye steak with a lobster tail, shrimp and sautéd spinach. Delish! There were quite a few other good looking options on the menu. The service was great, actually I felt like they went above and beyond. I can't wait to go back.

  5. The restaurant is a small space. The smiles on the patrons faces are very big.  I was the first in my group to arrive at Ricardos. I decided to sit at bar which holds about 10 people. I ordered the calimari and fried shrimp and the aricardo salad with avocado. All of the food was seasoned well and the calimari was not chewy. My sister had the burger with mozzarella and after each bite, she continued to rave how fabulous her burger was. I spoke to a customer. That had pork chops, mashed potatoes and rice and beans and he was loving his food. My coworker had the lamb chop and said it was the best she ever had. Everyone at the bar was so into their food and the joy on their faces spoke volumes. While you are at the bar you can see the head chef, Mario working his magic. The bartender Carla could use a little more training on being people friendly . So that's why I am only giving 4stars. I Would definitely return for the food.

  6. Beautiful Decor and friendly and effecient service are all within this cute restaurant located on the upper east side/harlem area of Manhattan. I am here for brunch where they have a wide selection of dishes ranging from buttermilk fried chicken tenders with pancakes, crab cakes with eggs, shrimp bangers with mashed potatoes etc….I am taking full advantage of their unlimited mimosas and Bellini deal for 20 dollars! This place plays great r+b music and has wonderful ambiance.

  7. OMG OMG OMG!!!  I love Ricardo!!

Went to dinner here on a Wednesday evening and I'm so glad I did.  We started off with drinks at our table – since it was happy hour the waitress gave us one round at the happy hour price since we weren't sitting at the bar.  I had a Pina Colada for $5.50 and it was great!  Nice and refreshing and had a nice kick to it.

    Now onto the best part……….

For appetizer I had the Mussels in a light tomato sauce!  Can you say fabulous???  The mussels were well seasoned with garlic, the light sauce I could have eaten like soup – it was absolutely delicious!

For entrée I had the Ricardo Special which was skirt steak, pork chop with pineapple salsa, mashed potatoes, rice and beans and plantains.  Yes….all on one plate!!  Everything was seasoned perfectly, the steak was not overcooked (I like it medium), and it was enough to take home.  All I can say is that my meal was fantastic, so much so that I couldn't order dessert.

The service is also fantastic as our waitress kept checking to see if everything was ok, our water glasses were always filled and our empty plates were promptly removed from in front of us.  Even the music they played was great.  I really have nothing negative to say about this place.

All I can say is if you haven't been here by now you should make it a point of going — I'm already planning on when I can go back!

  8. Pretty good stuff! Came here for a birthday dinner.  Chill ambiance, dim lighting, Saturday-night-loud but not obnoxious noise level, cool art on the walls, and the DJ was spinning some pretty great and classic hip hop/hip-hop R&B tunes,  I decided to be healthy that night and go for an entree-sized portion of one of the salads with steak on top.  It was really good but I wish the serving was a little larger.  Fortunately, the garlic bread appetizer was also really good though and hit the spots that the salad did not.  The specialty drink options were on point; so much so that I had about 3 of them! I didn't even know about this place until one of my friends suggested it after finding it one evening heading home from work.  BUYER BEWARE: It does get packed on a Saturday night.  Reserve a table in advance or run the risk of standing room only at the bar.  Also, only one single stall bathroom for both men and women so don't come in having an emergency!
