  1. Elsie L-Sizzle W. and I both ordered a number 3 – the Colombian Typical Platter. It was insane. We could've and should've both shared that one meal and ate it for lunch, dinner, and breakfast the next day. It was one of the first times I've seen the real life portion to be twice the size of the picture. If you're able to get past the egg, plantain, sausage, giant piece of pork fat, and corn patty, a steak awaits you on a bed of rice and beans. But none of it would be quite as good without the spicy creamy green sauce of wonder. I still don't know what it's made of, but my mouth doesn't care. Finally, don't forget to eat the avocados, to balance all the bad cholesterol with some good.

As Elsie points out, "this is a heart attack and stroke at the same time." At least Flushing Hospital is right across the street..?

  2. Not bad, not bad.

They have peruvian/colombian style rotisserie chicken here.  It's still not as good as a place that uses charcoal (I don't think you can get charcoal anywhere unless you head down to Washinton, DC), but the seasoning is good and the meat is flavorful.  Just go with the dark meat and you'll be fine.

I like the green spicy sauce they have.

The chicken is pretty cheap – you can get a whole bird to go for about $8.95, or a half chicken for $5.  Not a bad deal at all.  If you're at the hospital next door, this place is a welcome respite from the hospital food.

The workers were super nice and friendly when I came. I'd like to come back here when the chicken is actually fresh and see how good it is.

  3. I love ingesting pure fat.

As Ann C has pointed out, our meal could've fed an entire starving country. Or us. We chose us.

The Colombian Typical Platter. If Colombians typically ate this platter, they'd all be obese, not like Shakira. No, not like Shakira at all. Such platter consists of a long slice of plantain, a long piece of sausage, a long piece of fried pork fat, and a beautiful egg atop the whole thing. Oh, and I forgot the steak. And corn patty. And rice and beans. And mystery green sauce. And the little piece of avocado.

  4. This place is my go to for empanadas. This restaurant offers three different types of stuffing: chicken, cheese, and beef. I usually order chicken or cheese empanadas(sometimes both) for $1.50 each with complementary green hot sauce. It's so good compared to places in Manhattan that charge $2+. Two to three are enough to make you feel full instantly because they're consistently stuffed to the brim. I love how the exterior is crispy, but still has that soft doughy feel. Can really plug a growling stomach!

  5. In an area consumed by Asian everything, it was refreshing to find a good Hispanic restaurant…run by real Hispanics, not Asians *no offense to anyone* Parking in the area is a bit difficult as they are located across the street from a hospital. I would suggest going a block or two off 45 Ave and you should be able to find something there.

I've ordered take out from here on two occasions and both times I've enjoyed my meal. I got the lunch special both times and it was $8. It comes with the soup of the day, 1/4 chicken, rice and beans, plantain and salad. First time I was under the assumption that the soup was additional so I opted out of it. On my second trip I made sure to get everything (except rice), including a $1 chicken empananda. The cashier was nice enough to let me slide on the 21 cents because all I had was a $10 bill and my bank/credit cards (they are cash only).

Their rotesserie chicken (both white and dark meat) has light seasoning and is so moist. You can literally see the juices coming off the thigh pieces. The beans are a tab bit salty (I added water) and the salad is really good. It comes with shredded purple cabbage, shredded carrots, romaine lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes and a delicious light Italian dressing with salt and pepper sprinkled on top. The plantains were a little charred, but I didn't mind. The meal is very filling; for sure you get your monies worth.

After the chicken, beans, salad and plantains I was stuffed. I couldn't even look at anymore food. I gave the empanada to my mom, and she said it was ok. I'll be warming up the soup and eating it for dinner.

Im looking forward to trying more items on their menu
