  1. I had the risotto with sausage. It was really delicious. Went on a week day for lunch . I love the cozy decor and ambiance. Will return when in that part of town.

  2. Delicious risotto! A cute, romantic, cozy spot for italian food. It's a huge plus that it's gluten free!

Ordered the (to die for!) black truffle risotto, and it was not sparing in truffle and truffle oil. There was also a lot of variety of truffle and other entrees 🙂

Also had the prosciutto and mozzarella di bufala appetizer, and it was so fresh and did not disappoint!

Will come back to try the other dishes!

  3. This is one of the first restaurants I went to as a celiac and it is a double edge sword. I love the food, but it is quite pricey. They give you a large portion of risotto, but it is so much cheaper and tastes the same when making it yourself. As for the bread, its the best gluten free bread I've ever had! The tomato, mozzarella, and basil panini was absolutely delicious, but again, grossly overpriced. The breadsticks are super yummy and they have gluten free beers. I cannot speak about the beer, but I know they have it. It is also a very tight space. You are practically on top of another person and the table is against your stomach. It would be much better if the prices were lower, but like many gluten free restaurants- expect to be ripped off.

  4. Risotteria Melotti is one of my favorite places to eat in the East Village when I'm feeling a little bougie. There is a risotto for everyone here (as long as you like risotto), and every dish I've tried has been super. (Though my husband's one complaint is that the risotto alone is not enough food for him–take note, hungry men.) There are also reasonably priced bottles of wine, which is important because you can't really have risotto without wine. The added bonuses of eating here: I've always gotten a table right away (for 2, 4, and 6 people on weekend evenings), the staff are super friendly, and the inside of this place is STUNNING with a low but white light like a European cafe. If you can't tell, I love it all!

  5. Risotteria Melotti is a lovely find in the middle of East Village. Upon reading that this place's first location was in ITALY, I knew I had to try its latest (2013 I think) installment in NYC. The decor of the place is perfect: homey and comforting, with an Italian riviera motif. The staff is also super friendly and more than happy to take you through the menu upon request. We started our meal with the frito misto, aka a very solid mix of fried squid and shrimp. Shout out to the red sauce on the side that tasted fresh and distinctive, unlike most marinara's.

Of course, being a risotteria, we ordered risotto. I had the risotto all'anatara with duck, rosemary, sage, and bay leaves. With the risotto cooked to al dente perfection, this is definitely my contender for my new comfort food. It was hearty and filling…even if the rosemary was more noticeable than the duck. The all'isolana I thought was even better with its bits of pork loin, pancetta, and hint (and I mean hint, barely there in a good way) of cinnamon. Tasty and distinctive!

I definitely need to try to the mushroom risotto when I'm back here next, but if you make sure to order the risotto that best suits your tastes (vegetable vs. meat, cheesy vs. herby) you'll be sure to have a great time at Risotteria Melotti.

  6. Delicious, delicious risotto. I got the fig risotto wrapped in prosciutto. It was like a fancy crunch wrap supreme. Excellent combination of sweet and salty. We also got two desserts to share which were divine! So happy to have found a place with a ton of gluten free options!

  7. I have long been a huge fan of risotto, but it took me quite a while to visit a risotteria. I expected much from my first, and Risotteria Melotti did not let me down. The restaurant itself is very cozy, decorated with bits and pieces from the Italian peninsula, adding an aura of authenticity to the whole place.

On to the risotto! You really cannot go wrong with the choices available, with – count them! – 13 varieties to choose from. My only regret is that I was unable to try all of them. I was pretty full from my plate of risotto alla pescatora (seafood), but fancied myself some Italian dessert as well, and my tiramisu did the trick as well.

Simply put, come to Melotti for a warm, hearty plate of risotto to sit your stomach with someone special.

  8. This place is awesome, the waitress was very kind and gave us good recommendation. We drink a very nice red wine at $32.
I had the mushroom risotto and we shared the mozzarella di buffala as an appetizer.
