  1. Mac and Cheese clearly came out of a box. The "cheese" is powder. (Read Fast Food Nation to figure out how this stuff is actually made to taste like cheese.) Vanilla shake didn't have adequate thickness and tasted more like flavored milk.

Here are three words when I go to yet another disappointing NYC diner: GO TO IHOP!!!!

  2. When i lived in the Bronx this diner was a favorite… today while visiting i decided to have some breakfast and the menu went from all American to what i like to call international now catering to the Latino community which i think its great ! but as always when the menu is too labor intensive to look at that could affect the quality of the final product.  but anyway this morning when i was seated my waitress didn't look like she was having a good day.  i ordered a Dominican breakfast which is called "Mangu con los cuatro Golpes" which is mashed plantains with  onions on top (optional) 2 eggs, fried salami, fried cheese. i have to say the trick to this breakfast to be good is that the plantains has to be very soft like mashed potatoes and it was… so for this visit i say it was good but the customer service was lacking.  after a breakfast like that you will need a Nap!!! lol

  3. This place is a descent place to hang out with friends if you only live in the area. I wouldn't suggest making your way to come see this spot.

    Pros
-Has a "old school" diner experiences with workable stationary music players.
-the drinks and beers are actually tasty you might even order more.
-clean descent place so you don't have to feel like your sitting in garbage.

    Cons
-the waiters are somewhat rude to you
-delivery service sucks the driver ask for tips when they didn't do anything to earn it
    – food sometimes there's hair in food from either the preps or cooks

Overall point- come to this location once in a while for the drinks.everything else here isn't what it was years ago

  4. Can't go wrong with a diner. Solid breakfast items, big menu. Downfall-typically long delivery time. However, worth the wait. Enjoy.

  5. I had an appointment in the area that ran a little long and of course I was late for my train, so breakfast it was!

It wasn't crowded at all on a weekday around 8 am.  I was seated quickly and looked over the large menu.  Even though the place has that old school chrome diner look, the food has more of a Spanish flair.  I figured I'd go a little different and ordered the breakfast jambalaya.

I really pictured it much differently in my head.  I was thinking a large bowl with the cheddar grits taking the place of the rice and the eggs being on top of the shrimp, chicken and chorizo.  Instead I got 3 plates.  The large main plate was a soupy mix of onions, peppers, sauce and the meat next to the eggs.  There was also a bowl with grits that had greasy cheddar melted on top and my toast plate.

The taste was good, I just expected something different.  It's a pretty good spot for the area, just not the greatest.

  6. Came here after the Riverdale 10K race recently and we settled into a booth pretty quickly. Service was fine. I ordered french toast and a side of bacon and eggs and was surprised that the french toast came on regular bread – in my experience with diners, many of the french toast platters use brioche bread or challah bread. In any case, it was OK fare, but I wouldn't come back anytime soon.

  7. We had dinner there yesterday with a friend and everything was perfect:  really delicious food, huge portions (we each took home about half of our meal, which provided dinner for tonight) and great service (our server & the busboy were really sweet-natured).  I had the penne pasta & shrimp with vodka sauce ($15.50) and my husband & our friend each had the chicken burrito ($13.50).  We were also given three different types of bread.  In addition, we each took home an order of bread pudding – and not only was it really good, but the serving sizes were enormous (for the small sum of $2.95).  I complimented the manager afterwards and he was a really nice guy (he must not be the same one who a few others have complained about).

We also noticed that this place has an "A" rating from the Health Department.

  8. Just an average diner. Food wasn't amazing nor was it bad. I asked for Banana pancakes I prefer with banana inside but the waiter told me they don't make it like that only on top (is it that much more difficult to make? ) I went for Blueberry pancakes which come with blueberry inside. I was disappointed at the pancakes they were stale and lacking flavor. We also ordered the Santa Fe Cajun this was a good sandwich and fries that came with it were good. If you are in the area late it's fine but don't expect amazing food or service. I was actually trying to go to a small diner nearby that has great reviews Luche y Miel but they had a private event so I settled for this diner.
