Golden Reef had been my go-to RVC diner for years. A few months ago, I had a subpar breakfast there so I knew I had to find a better diner option in the area.
Rockville Diner has all the basics-eggs, sandwiches, pancakes, etc.
I ordered the Eggs Florentine (which was supposed to be poached eggs), but it came out as an omelet with spinach. I was starving so I didn't even care. It was a good omelet. The accompanying home fries were delish.
Better option than Golden Reef but not the best diner I've been to.
With the free parking in downtown RVC it was a no-brainer to visit this older, small diner tucked into an office building on the corner of Sunrise Highway & Village Ave. The good reviews also were helpful in the decision to pay Rockville Diner a visit. The service was fast, the food was hot and delicious and most importantly the excellent coffee kept coming until we woke up. Although $30 (including tip) for eggs , pancakes & coffee may seem a bit steep for two, the high quality justifies it. Menu is short and sweet and to the point. Breakfast on the left, lunch on the right and all the classic Diner fare stuff is available here. Place was very clean and staff were friendly and treated us as if we were long time regulars. If your looking for more Gourmet Brunch go to Chat Noir around the corner. Also, the bathrooms are located down a flight of stairs so people with mobility issues be aware of this. Did I mention coffee was excellent. Coffee Coffee Coffee.
I was hoping to have a great big traditional breakfast; sometimes when I'm dieting and eating well, I sit up at night and think about the next day's breakfast. Not to be.
RVC is a great place, filled with restaurants like no other community around. I walked around, passing many of them in favor of this little corner luncheonette.
Walk in and you're greeted with no customers at 9:20 am, never a good sign. The iffy smell might have something to do with that. Given a greasy menu, I figured walking out would be too awkward at that point, especially being the only customer there, being waited on by two gentlemen.
I ordered a waffle, figuring this is something simple that is not usually screwed up. Wrong again. Rubbery, as far from crispy as it gets, and tasteless.
Nuff said, never again.
Food sucks like all diners.
Service was okay forgot my kids ice cream, for got to come up to us.
I specifically said no sauce on the spaghetti and they put it on . My kid doesn't like there is a reason.
I would never come back to this place.
Went for lunch and enjoyed the Manhattan clam chowder and a ceaser salad with chicken. This place is small and cozy. Perfect for my lunch break from work. It has an old fashioned feel and the service was good. I'll try it again sometime.
Small diner located next to an office building. I have been here several times for lunch and breakfast. Food is good and not too expensive. Service is ok as well. The crowd that frequents the place are either from the office building or the elderly so I felt out of place. The decor is nothing special.
