I really don't have any other words despite what I'm about to say. Not only is this place the definition of "home" for me, it's a staple in the Brooklyn community. Not your average food joint, it has a certain aroma about it, roast beef sandwiches, fries with cheez ( yes I know how I spelled it), the most tender chicken fingers in existence, and some lemonade that would make you wanna slap your mama. Well not literally…
Any time I'm able to venture home to Brooklyn this is my first stop the moment I step off the plane and onto the belt parkway.
Price wise it's awesome, can feed a family of 4 for about $30, they serve alcohol ( yassssss) . The service is typical, mostly teens working, but they are polite and fast. They also serve pizza but I've never ever seen anybody try it like it baffles me as to why they would even sell it lol.
All in all I HIGHLY recommend this place!!
I'm typically not a fan of fast food, just because of the negative connotations associated with it. With that being said, given the reviews of this place, I decided to give it a shot.
It was better than I expected. The service was friendly and we felt welcomed. We ordered the roaster beef – one regular and one with cheese and corn fritters. The roast beef was perfectly medium so the meat remained juicy and flavorful. I usually like my rolls toasted, but the meat was so good the bread didn't have to be toasted. The corn fritters were delicious! Writing this review makes me want to go back for some. Our only complaint would be that the excess oil was not dripped off before serving in the paper basket.
It doesn't taste like fast food and it's definitely affordable. All in all, it was a great meal.
Since moving to New York, Roll-N-Roaster has been on my bucket list, never quite making it to the top due to the hour-long trip hour there. On this summer's day, though, I decided to finally take the bull by the horns, though, and like Harold and Kumar, make my pilgrimage.
The 18-minute walk from the subway would be delightful in anything a tad cooler than 99 degree temps, but that was my own foolishness. Water views and fishing boats beckoning visitors for afternoon tours will line your whole walk to R-N-R.
When you arrive, its friendly yellow and orange facade is a beacon of good cheer. Upon entering, you're greeter by a bustling vibe of families and old timers alike getting their roast beef fix. It's the kind of family-friendly joint that offers balloons to the kiddos and lets you spin the prize wheel on your birthday (note to self – come back on my birthday).
My mind was so boggled by their extensive menu that I had to make a few trips to the counter. Once for the staples of roast beef and the oval-shaped fries. Another for root beer, having foolishly forgotten a beverage in my initial menu-induced state of overwhelmedness. And finally for an order of the legendary golden corn fritters to go.
Everything loved up to expectation. Lena roast beef on a pillowy bun. Perfectly crisp round fried that are the stuff dreams are made of. And the corn fritters – holy wow.
Prices all very reasonable, with the one odd outlier of the $6.50 milkshakes which didn't seem in line with the rest of the modest pricing. I'm sure they're delish, but I resisted.
And then, just like that, you're done and you're stuffed. Thank goodness for that 18 minute walk back to the subway to work off some of your feast!

Roll n roaster has been a brooklyn staple since the 70's. As a teen my dad use to hang out here. Years later when I came along roll n roaster quickly became my spot. I was gumming a delicious rippled cut french fry before my first tooth ever came in. Growing up my dad would take me here every Monday after school for their awesome chicken fingers. Yeah…. roll n roaster has been in my life through boyfriends, breakups and makeups. So it's possible I'm a bit bias.
Bias or not no way can anyone resist a beef w/ chesse and fries. Pair it with a fresh squeezed lemonade and you got yourself one fantastic meal. But, don't take my word for it. Try it for yourself!

I mean that's really all you need to know just go, don't ask questions. If you spend enough you get a free thin crust pizza to wash it all down with. I take getting the free pizza as a personal challenge.

I recently came to Roll N Roaster for the first time even though my family is from the area and I go to Sheepshead Bay at least twice a year. The ordering process was similar to most fast food joints. Get a number, wait for them to call you, etc. etc. Our food took a while to come out but it was a busy Saturday afternoon so I let it slide. I got the grilled chicken with a side of sweet potato fries. My guest got the roast beef with onion rings.
My chicken sandwich was…Okay. The chicken itself was good and moist but the gravy they use is pretty nasty and ended up ruining the sandwich for me. The roll, however, was good. My sweet potato fries were perfect and crisp and did not require ketchup. I tried the roast beef and found it dry. Once again the gravy ruined that for me, as well. Overall this place is okay and more geared towards families. Maybe next time I'll get a sandwich without the gravy.
I really love Roll-N-Roaster. It is very retro design and the atmosphere is just super " 1950s lets grab a milkshake and drink"

Even though they're known for their roast beef, I'm actually not a huge fan of it, but luckily the rest of their menu does not disappoint! My favorite item by far is their mozarella sticks, which I got both times I went. Something about their marinara sauce is just SO addicting. Their fries are also pretty good, but are a bit bland on their own so I'd recommend adding salt & pepper.
The first time I went, I ordered a chicken parm from a special menu they had. It was delicious (probably used the same delicious marinara sauce that comes w/ the mozarella sticks lol) and the portion was huge. When I went back the second time, I didn't see that special menu again so I'm not sure if it's still available. Also they went around and offered samples of lemon ice to customers dining in. It was quite sour but refreshing and a pleasant end to our meal. I also recommend their iced tea and orangeade!
