  1. The key positive about this pizza place is the location. However the food at least tonight was horrible. The chicken parm was rubbery and the cheese used on top was of poor quality and tasted bad. The spaghetti sauce was eatery. The pizza was salty. We left entire plates of food behind. What a shame.

  2. Bread makes or breaks the sandwich and Romanelli's uses good bread. Their calzones, aside from a little too much corn meal on the crust for my taste, are spectacular. Staff is friendly too.

  3. Definitely your average Jersey Italian place. Typical guido guys behind the counter named "Mikey" and all that, haha. Unfortunately, only basically acceptable pizza. Okay, but nothing to write home about. I'd come back to try their pasta next time. I feel like all you can get in Madison in the way of food you don't have to sit down at a table to be waited on for is pizza. But generally, this is a nice family Italian place extremely convenient right next to the train to Dover, NYC, and Hoboken.

  4. I agree with the other commenter who said this place is hit or miss, and that the food can be REALLY good. I especially love their sauce, as it doesn't seem to be pureed tomato straight out of a can. There are seeds and flavors and general loveliness in that sauce, and it makes the pizza stand out for me.

I remember absolutely loving this place when I was in middle school. It was always filled with kids my age; many a loud, obnoxious birthday party was attended in their side room. As I grew up in the area, I would take kids I was babysitting here, or just go with friends. I actually really like their pizza (especially the sauce) and their eggplant parmesan sandwich.

The location is great – right in downtown Madison by the train station. Great for lunch or dinner, with plenty of seating. Their Sicilian style pizza is a bit thick and dry, but I'll always love their NY style. I also remember loving their chicken parm sandwich when I was young, but I have no idea if it held up with time.

  5. They deliver. Woohoo! I've been growing up eating this pizza. It's the best pizza in the area and that's what my rating is on – not all pizza ever. We usually get plain or with italian sausage. I've eaten in as well. It's a typical pizza spot. Booths, soda machine, kids hanging out. Order a few slices with a soda and eat up. If you want a simple pie, this is the place to come … orrrr get it delivered!

  6. Ever time my family is back in NJ to visit my sister and her family, we have at least one lunch or dinner here.  It is nothing more than a casual location across from the Madison train station in downtown Madison to get quick, dependable and tasty Italian food, from pizza to subs to dinners like chicken parm with pasta.  I grew up in this area of NJ and have lived on the West Coast for 18 years so miss the abundance of solid, dependable Italian places to grab a sub or dinner.  It may not be the best of those types of places, but I can say when you can't get this type of Italian comfort food daily, this is a welcome sight.

  7. A poor excuse for Jersey pizza.
We ordered delivery for a small meeting, 3 pies, different toppings on each. Came 10 minutes late, understandable during rush hour/peak delivery period, so I'm not deducting for that. However, what arrived is best described as "stuff on a crust." There's about the right amount of cheese (may be a little too much for some), but it has the same consistency and taste as rubber. The toppings were in about the right quantity, and of standard quality. The sauce… what sauce? What little sauce there was, tasted like tomato paste out of a can, and it was overwhelmed by the density of the cheese on top. Also, even the plain pie was oily, but it wasn't that clear orange oil that you get with good pizza. It was also kind of gummy.
Overall, an oil and salt festival that doesn't need to invite me next time.

  8. Pizza served up hot and on trays as you walk past the cashier, served like in an IKEA cafeteria, and then you go to a separate room to sit (since the main area has only three bench tables & seats.

Noisy – often a lot of kids here on weekdays for some reason.

Once saw pictures of the Goose on the wall, apparently he's been here before?
