If you love quality wine and a city, Rooftop Reds is for you! DC native, Devin, started Rooftop Reds after learning the art of wine in upstate New York and started the world's first ever urban, rooftop winery. Amazing!
Rooftop Reds is located in a historic brick building in the Brooklyn Navy Yards and has every charm a Brooklyn rooftop has to offer from amazing views of the city to Instagram worthy rooftop picnic tables.
The rooftop actually has vines growing as you sit at one of the picnic tables or one of the four large hammocks. Enjoy a tasting or stop by the rooftop bar for other options. My friends and I did the tasting of their original wines and all were quality. Most were on the slightly sweeter side, but not in a way that non-sweet loving winos wouldn't love it.
This place is awesome. What a nice peaceful escape from the city. You feel like you are amongst greenery and while the grass is fake, the grapes Are real! Not many places where you have a gorgeous view of downtown Brooklyn AND downtown Manhattan!
The place has tables, quilts with pillows for picnicking, and hammocks. The wines are reasonably priced and are surprisingly good. (I liked the bicoastal red and the semi dry Riesling).
No food yet but they have picnic baskets. We got a baguette with cheese, meat, silverware, olives, and jam. We also kept the bag. Not cheap but not expensive and definitely worth the experience of having a picnic at a winery in New York City!
If you are going for fly by night on a weekend, I recommend around 6:30-7 to come and claim your spot and to avoid lines for wine, after 730 it got crowded quickly. (The show was at 830 but started late).
AdterwArds stop at kings county distillery on your way out!
Overpriced wine ($8/glass) and picnic food. Also, not a great viewing place for the pigeon park. As the evening progressed, it got more and more crowded. Parts of the roof smelled of sewage, which was not ideal. It's a cool concept though; lots of grape vines. And at least we got to see a beautiful sunset, plus a bunch of hammocks with a nice view of the skyline.

Definitely make this a "must do" in Brooklyn!
