3.5 I met a friend for happy hour a couple of weeks ago. I'll start by saying that their drinks are pretty tasty. I had the bottomless guac, which was made fresh and very tasty. Their queso fundido and tacos were also tasty. The drinks are a little pricey though. Happy hour drinks are made with well drinks, which are just a headache in a bottle. Go have some food and drinks. ENJOY!!!
I've been to this location several times now and I'm just not impressed. I have come for happy hour and the sangria and guac here is delicious but i'd never had a full dinner. Finally came here for dinner with the family last weekend and we were left a little disappointed. Going into the restaurant we were immediately put off by the strange oniony/armpit smell. We ordered the guacamole which was probably the best thing on the menu. I ordered the carnitas fajita and some family members ordered the steak and chicken fajitas and chicken enchiladas. It took forever to get our food but i'll give them credit because the waiter came and apologized to us for the food taking so long as there was a large party there. My fajita was good but not amazing just lacking in overall seasoning and flavor. They give sauces on the side of the fajita dish which are a joke because it's a tiny amount, I would've liked more. Also three of us ordered fajitas which came with rich and beans. The rice dish on the side is tiny and was for all three of us. My dad stated he liked the chili's fajitas better and everyone was unhappy with the portion sizes. I do like the happy hour they have and i'll probably return for that but most likely not having dinner here again.
I somehow remember the food being absolutely superb many moons ago when there was just the single West Side location in NYC. Since then this Mexican specialist has expanded its operations quite a bit-even venturing out to suburbia!
Having become a proud Jersey suburbanite once again, I was hankering for some guacamole and sangria and excited to try to this outpost.
Our server was super attentive. We were a group of 7 people dining after work. The red sangria was very tasty, well balanced and not overwhelmed with fruit. I opted for the moderately spicy guac which was perfect in terms of heat. Super fresh, nice chunky consistency and good acid. Followed up with the shrimp ceviche which was also yummy but not terribly original. The cauliflower with achiote and the side of kale with corn and poblano were on point. The skirt steak entree looked excellent and was apparently enjoyed by others at the table. The quesadillas looked a little underwhelming. But everyone seemed to enjoy.
The bottom line is that you probably can't go wrong when you're looking for some higher end tex mex in the area. Drinks are delicious, the servers try hard to please, and the food is definitely good.
It probably is one of the better Mexican places in NJ, though it seems to be lacking a big in authenticity. Happy to come back. Super convenient location in Riverside Square!
Happy hour prices are reasonable..food was just ok. I would recommend going to a local family mexican restuarant for food. Decor however is lovely here. All in all…decent place. Staff is friendly and work very quickly to ensure you have a nice relaxing time.
On a Sunday it's happy hour all day here. The margaritas are standard for a chain, nothing special at all. With happy hour you can only have 1 flavored option and that's mango.
I don't eat guac but my friends liked it and had 3 refills for 1 price. You can tell them how hot you want it too.
The nachos were ok. Too soggy at the end for me. The cheeses were good though and the level of spice was a good balance.
The chicken tacos were ok, nothing special either. Small too.
I wouldn't come back here, not worth it. The sevice was sub par too in the bar area.
My friends and I were choosing either PF Changs or Rosa's. We decided Rosa's because there was no wait. Thank God we did. This place is definitely trendy but more importantly, the food was delicious.
It's a very modern take on classic Mexican cuisine but it works!
I ordered the Mahi Mahi tacos. Delicious. Our service was impeccable and the hostess were very friendly and very serviceable. I want to come back for Valentine's Day. They have a specific dinner menu for that night. I suggest you go here instead of PF Chang's or the Italian restaurant right next too it.
Alright mixed feelings…. We arrived and we're looking to enjoy happy hour. They say us at a regular table and when we asked for the happy hour menu they told us we had to go to the bar. We went back to the hostess and she just gave us attitude and told us to find a seat. Well there wasn't one. We stood around and waited for an area to free up.
We ordered a pitcher of margaritas which was delicious and enough for four of us. We ordered the table side Guacamole which I loved. It's unlimited during happy hour which is awesome. They also have $3 tacos on the happy hour menu… Would not recommend those they were just blah. They have $5 quesadillas which come two to an order. They were pretty good.
Overall I think I would just come back for the drinks and happy hour guac. Based off the happy hour food I think it's overpriced and not worth it unless you're getting the unlimited guac deal for $15.
*Happy Hour Review*
This review is based off of Happy Hour only. I went to Rosa Mexicano a few times recently for HH and it was absolutely awesome! They have $6 margaritas and $30 pitchers. The HH menu is great as well- lots to choose from and a large variety of different dishes. I meet my friends for HH every so often and this place always sticks out in my mind for one main reason…. BOTTOMLESS GUAC. You heard it right; bottomless guacamole.. and it's REALY good. You can choose mild, medium or spicy and they will continuously make it fresh in front of you as long as you finish the previous bowl (which isn't too hard to do considering how good it is). Now that it's nice out, you can sit outside too! $6 margaritas, delicious food, endless guac and a comfortable seat outside. Can't beat it in this area!
