“I got the hummus to start & sadly it had a strange sour taste to it hence the 4 stars instead of 5.”

  1. Once again, with the help of groupon I found a really great restaurant. The place is really good. First time eating Persian food and I was impress. Very tastey and decent portion. I thought without groupon, the food is a bit pricey. I got 2 kabob that came with rice and a grilled tomato, about $14. Before the meal, they served us some type of bread (don't remember the name of it) with plain yogurt. It was good, but not memorable. I thought the decor of the place was really nice. It has a romantic atmosphere to it. Would come back again if I feel like splurging on a nice meal. But definitely worth it.

  2. I came here for lunch, which is nice because the restaurant has $8-15 lunch specials.

We ordered the hummus appetizer to split, which was pretty good.

I got the kebabs with rice. it was also pretty delicious. And the portion was just right for lunch.

We didn't have room for dessert.

The waitress was friendly enough, maybe a bit too apologetic because the table was small and she kept apologizing as she moved the plates around. We kept having to say, "It's fine."

I'd return here and there I bet for lunch.

  3. 5 stars for a very friendly service. The food was 2 stars. I had the vegetarian ghormeh sabzi, which was saltless, watery, tasteless. It was like a soup with a few mushroom pieces and a few beans. Didn't feel like a stew for sure. The albaloo polo was okay. Saltless again.

The kashk bademjan was good, but very salty. My husband liked his lamb shank a lot.

The overall decor and setup was below average. For New Jersey standards, I guess it's considered good.

Since everyone is raving about this place, I'll go back to try salmon kebab. Maybe it was just the end of the day and that's why my food wasn't that good.

  4. I went here with some friends and we used a Groupon deal that was $40 for $80 worth of food.  We got to enjoy 2 appetizers, 4 entrees, 2 desserts & tea with our deal.  The restaurant has red walls and beautiful chandeliers hanging from the ceiling.  There is a big TV in one corner that feels out of place but it is muted so it didn't disrupt anyone's conversations.  On a freezing night I enjoyed my beef stew with peas and tomatoes.  Our hummus and eggplant dip appetizers were enjoyable, especially the eggplant.

  5. Would give 4.5 stars if Yelp would allow! We feel very fortunate to have access to such an authentic, lovely Persian restaurant. The food is always fresh and very true to the cuisine; spiced and seasoned perfectly, never greasy. Service is always excellent. We would recommend Rose to anyone interested in a really solid Persian meal at an excellent price! The Doogh (yogurt drink) is not to be missed!

  6. If you can take advantage of the groupon deal I would definitely recommend trying Rose Persian. We did the $40 for $80 deal which was quite reasonable for a large amount of food. We had hummus and a fried eggplant dip for appetizers. The eggplant really stood out as a special dish that was seasoned really well (I also couldn't resist the walnut topping).

I ordered chicken in pomegranate paste that reminded me slightly of chicken mole. Everyone at the table was satisfied with their stew dishes on a cold winter's night.

The groupon deal also allowed us to get two desserts and a round of tea for the table.

If you don't have a groupon Rose Persian is still worth going to for a night of solid Middle Eastern food.
