Sighhhh, I'm always disappointed by this place. Like many other reviewers, I absolutely deplore this place. Its always a go-to for wedding events and sweet sixteens. But I find the entire establishment to be very unattractive. The facilities manager really needs to step it up and bring this space back to life. It's dirty, dusty, and just unkept.
The food is sub-par. The bathrooms are gross. The actual event furniture is worn looking too. It just has an overall forgotten-about look. It's actually sad because this space has SUCH potential. It used to be a gorgeous venue. Now it's just tacky.
Words cannot describe how much I hate this place. I have been attending weddings here for 10 years now so I have been coming here whenever it is wedding season. I still do not understand why people book this venue because this place is beyond awful.
First and foremost, there are 5 halls. There is one huge hall on the main floor and four small ones downstairs (there is a small side entrance). All of the halls have a dance floor, stage, and an extra room which is inside the hall which is suitable for 5-6 people to sit in. There are bathrooms both downstairs and upstairs. These bathrooms feel like public restrooms at a train station. They are in a bad state. The table cloths and seats are filthy. Clearly they have been used way too much and should be retired at this point. The floor has to be cleaned thoroughly or replaced because it is starting to look bad. This place needs a thorough renovation.
If you choose this place as a venue then be prepared to eat and serve your guests spoiled and strange smelling food because you are not allowed to get a separate caterer. The only decent thing is the papari chaat appetizer. The workers are also extremely rude. They clearly don't want to be working and they show it. All in all, this is an awful venue for parties, weddings, or any other event. You would honestly be better renting a hotel ballroom than this horrendous place.
What you see may not be what you get.
I went to my first Indian wedding here in September. I was excited about this place because I heard good things about it and how classy it was. Upon arriving to the "Palace", I was surprised at what awaited me. The "castle" is white, but looks like it could use a good cleaning. There wasn't valet service and the concrete by the main entrance was covered with gum! Tons of it! The grounds for the outdoor ceremonies looked nice, nothing spectacular. Inside was really dingy and looked like it could use a renovation.
The ballroom where the reception was beautiful and spacious. There was a beautiful throne/stage area for the bride and groom and a massive dance floor, plenty of seating for a few hundred people. The tables had white table cloths, but the cushions and linens were mostly dingy! The glassware was mismatched too. The service wasn't great either. We kept running out of water and never received our own pitcher for the table. The makeshift "bar" area was something that you'd see at an outdoor BBQ. They were stingy with drinks. The food was served buffet style, with lots of options for people. Most of the food was flavorful. I wish there was an explanation for each dish, since I'm not entirely familiar with Indian cuisine, but I stuck with what I knew.
Overall, 2.5 stars. I think a good renovation and proper customer service training would give this venue the right to be called a "Palace."
I have come here many times for work related events. I have eaten in the ballroom and restaurant area.
The food is always perfectly cooked and never dried out. What impressed me most about this place is that each dish has a distinct flavor. The sauce in each dish is unique and has its own flavor.
I have tried authentic Indian and American type food. They are both great.
You can order a steak or pork chop. Wow the pork chop has always been amazing and cooked perfectly.
If you want authentic Indian food and are in the area you will not be disappointed.
The owner is a great guy who always comes up to me and asks if I enjoyed the food.
Apparently, this is the spot if you are an Indian having a wedding or event and live in the tri-state. The bride said a guy who works in her building in Manhattan said he's been here like five times.
I attended a lively wedding here. We had a great time and the food was very, very tasty.
I think if you are a carefree, this place won't bother you at all. If you are a perfectionist, keep looking. Another tip: See if you can hold your event at night (you'll see fewer flaws) and in the patio area with the fountain, which is lovely.
This venue is in real need of a renovation. It's massive, so I can only imagine the upkeep. There was equipment outside, so I think they are trying to do some type of renovation.
There were bits of trash in the grass outside. A friend picked a roach out of my hair (I promise he wasn't my date and wasn't with us during the ride to Jersey. I'm assuming he hitched a ride when we were outside). someone left a used pantyliner on top of a tank in the toilet (not the staff's fault, but they weren't patrolling the restrooms to keep them clean because the pantyliner was there for hours). The staff didn't seem that well-informed. One couldn't answer questions about certain dishes.
Look I could go on, but I really don't want to bash this place because it was about celebrating the union of two wonderful people. I had a great time and the food seemed super-authentic and was delicious.
I'm only writing this review to keep people informed.
