East Crown Heights doesn't have a lot of dining options open on Sundays. So while foraging for dinner, I saw a line at the counter here and got in it. I figured most people probably know more than me, so might as well learn. And I was happy I did.
Not only were they open for Sunday dinner, but they were cooking chicken and other things fresh. They had a steam table, as most fast casual places around here do, and it was clean and well-stocked. I was also really impressed by the number of seafood dishes they had… snapper, salmon, shrimp, king fish and more. Pretty impressive.
Portion sizes were also very good. I got jerk chicken, as it seemed to be the thing to get, and a large was indeed large. The jerk shrimp was good too. Both were served with a couple of pieces of bread to help soak up the juices. The rice was plump; a little bit dry, but still good. The veggies were a little bit on the bland side, but passable.
It's also kind of a crapshoot in in the neighborhood as to menu pricing. Not all places have a menu or prices listed, which makes one wonder if regulars get a discount. But RCYF does, which is appreciated.
I'm not an authority on jerk food, but this was pretty good and worth having again.
