Rumba Cubana

“I loved the service, the small warm atmostphere, the strong sangria, and finally, the delicious food.”

“The ropa vieja had great flavor and the bowl of plantain added a very sophisticated touch to the plating.”

“My other top 3 dishes that I always have to try at any Cuban spot to make sure they're legit (and have had here) are the Vaca Frita, Ropa Veija, and the Churrasco.”

  1. I dont think it's worth the wait… We arrived at 8'30 on friday night and got seated in the corner after 30' waiting. Service was extremely slow, I am not sure if they were too busy or the waiter himself forgot our group. Shrimp stuffed avocado was very good while shrimp ceviche was the worst one I had ever. Could someone tell me if it's cuban style that in ceviche, shrimp is cooked and dipped in tomato sauce ?

I order steak&salad and it was a hit, steak was well marinated and cooked to perfection. At the same time, my husband's pepper and steak was horrible, he ordered medium and got well-done & super dry beef…

  2. I can't believe I haven't written a review for this place. This one of my favorite Cuban restaurants in all of the land. Cute restaurant in the middle of 1&9. Although parking sometimes sucks, this place is worth it. Huge portions, great food, and extremely reasonable prices.

The staff here is great. Very friendly, and always provide amazing service. Although they often just start speaking Spanish, once we get past the "No, I'm sorry, I don't speak Spanish" part- the rest of the dining experience is always good. They give you these crackers with some ham spread… no idea what the spread is but its so good. Try not to get full off of it.

The food here is authentic Cuban food very well prepared. Huge portions, you will not finish your meal. Even though the food is so large, don't skip out on the apps because they have some amazing options.

Cant go wrong with this place. If you come at night especially on a weekend, be prepared to wait. It gets PACKED!

  3. Love the food!!!  The ambiance here is great due to the decor and tropical feel.  The food was excellent.  We got the mofongo as a starter it was delicious with just enough garlic and onion and extra dipping sauce is a must.  I also got the rope vieja, white rice and frijoles.  Everything was plentiful and very well seasoned and cooked.  The flavors here are awesome and every bite was as good as the first.  Finished off with the tres leches cake…omg, can't describe it, you just have to go experience it for yourself.

  4. I had a good time with my friend and boyfriend. We came for lunch and left the restaurant super stuffed! Portions are decent, food quality is good, but the drinks are even better! The server informed us that it does take while for the paella. Well you know what? It was worth the wait! It was a great experience and would definitely come back.

  5. I ran in for a quick bite and I loved it.
    The service was good.
The restaurant kind of looked to me like the Rainforest Cafe, I was disappointed that the carne con papas is only offered on Friday.
I ordered pork with Rice and beans and an appetiser of croquetas.
    I got flan to go.

Parking lot is small but I enjoyed the food!

  6. The food was great. However our waiter was not attentive at all! We came in for a party of 15 on a Saturday night. Our waiter didn't seem to care about our needs while dining in. Rarely checked in , I had to ask another water for a refill TWICE! Again the food was great but the service was not good at all. Prices are great too

  7. A group of four of us tried the one on Blvd east. It has a great view of NYC but terrible for parking if their valet parking space is full. I called days ahead for a Saturday night reservation but they did not take it so we waited about 1h30mins at bar.
The place is very upbeat, loud and crowded. I guess people really love this place.
Service was mediocre and the food still didn't do it for me. Prices are still very reasonable so we got what we paid for.
Unfortunately for me, it was not worth the lengthy wait.

  8. Met up with some friends on a Tuesday night and surprisingly it was very busy. My husband and I drove to the wrong location so make sure you determine the location if you're making plans with friends!

This location was a lot night and the view from the second floor was phenomenal compared to the smaller location. Anyway, there is valet parking but they get flooded with cars so it takes a while for valet to go back and forth. Luckily for me, I had parking right across the street from the restaurant.

The ambiance of the place is great, very unique with a dark decor and great for groups and hosting parties. We sat at a corner table looking out the window and the table was big enough to accommodate the portions of their food. Having never been there before, my husband and I ordered the appetizer that came with a little bit of everything. This is probably one of the better places I've been to asides from Casual Habana's in Hackensack/New Milford. I ordered the ropa vieja which seems to be a popular dish that most people get. It's basically the Barbacoa you get from chipotle in a shell of banana chips with salad on the side. The dish comes with only one side which I ordered the tostones. It came with four LARGE tostones which was MORE than enough. Next time I go back, I'm definitely tying the churrassco and getting a side of their rice.
The sangrias were soooo good and sweet. We ordered the white AND red and from someone who prefers white wine, I thought the red sangria was amazing.

The staff was also amazingly helpful and friendly. They were welcoming and productive when it comes to pleasing everyone. Our waiter came back to check on us every so often and there were waiters walking around sweeping up any messes on the floor which shows obvious signs that they keep the restaurant clean.

Between four people, 2 appetizers and four main courses, and two pitchers of sangria, our  bill came out to about a little over $100!! For the price and the quality of food and the great service, this is a must go to place to try!

I took one star off because parking really is a bitch and making reservations here is definitely ideal as it does get very busy. Being here on a Tuesday and saying its busy, I can't even imagine how busy it gets on the weekends!
