Russo Mozzarella & Pasta
“They sell olive oils, tomato pastes, anchovies, mixed olives, house sauces, and so many types of fresh pasta.”
“Some of home made tortellini and ravioli can get a bit pricey but it's still much better than the fancy spots like Eataly.”
“Places like this make the East Village what it is – filled with interesting, niche, best-of-class, entrepreneur-owned businesses..”

Fuck the celeb places, like Babbo (garbage). This place kills. Food is simple and traditional Italian. Made in-house unless I am wrong. Sandwiches destroy all the chains as well.
Seriously, eat here. Expound on the beauty of it…
I got a big-ass sandwich here that had prosciutto, fresh mozarella, fresh basil, tomatoes and some really good vinegar and olive oil. The sandwich was hearty, the bread had a good crust yet a soft, chewable crumb, and was only $7.50 or so. A really good deal for the price – too bad this place doesn't open past 7 pm.
Great place to pick up cheese and some homemade pasta! Not too expensive and you don't have to wait in the long line at di Paulo's or deal with the mess of tourists of little Italy. The staff is helpful and their sandwiches are huge and yummy.
they have some tasty spicy italian sausage– ask them to slice it up for you, perfect for a picnic or h'orderves.
