  1. My favorite Park Slope option for real/ fresh mozzarella.  Really the best place to buy in the entire neighborhood!

  2. A few friends from Georgia came up to visit and we were in the area after a quick lunch.  We stopped by Russo's because there was a sign outside for prosciutto and mozzarella panini.  The best I'd ever have was in Florence when the bf and I went to Italy.  I still think of that sandwich.  And while I knew I could not have the same in the States, I still end up getting prosciutto and mozzarella sandwiches whenever I crave it.

There were tons of food in the store to look at.  Meats, cheese and pastas.  We stuck to the panini and it took a little bit.  I am not complaining because it was wonderful.  It was very close to sandwiches that I had in Italy.  The bread was crusty and toasty.  The prosciutto was freshly sliced and the right temperature!  I hate when places toast the prosciutto inside with the bread.

It was so good!  I have to come back ASAP!

  3. Great sandwiches full of meat (prosciutto, roast beef), cheese (mozzarella, swiss cheese), and veggies (peppers, broccoli rabe).  Great selection of fresh bread, pastas (even lobster, crab), sausages, and cheeses…oh and of couse I had to try the sea salt caramel gelato cake – amazing!

The sandwiches are so filling ($8.95 including soda) – great to grab before a picnic in the park.

  4. This seems like a great Italian deli overall but my review is for the sandwiches. Yes, they're huge and yes, the ones I had were tasty but it doesn't quite deserve all the raves it gets. I've tried the meatball parm hero and the #8 which was imported prosciutto, fresh mozzarella, basil and olive oil. The meatball parm was really large with tender meatballs and a layer of mozzarella but I thought there wasn't quite enough sauce to balance out all the meat while the prosciutto sandwich lacked a little moisture–it would've been better served with a few slices of tomato or roasted red peppers, maybe a dash of balsamic. The sandwiches were $8.95 each but that included a free drink which was nice. Solid sandwiches but nothing super amazing.

  5. Because I'm not a sloper, I'm late to this discovery, but this place is amazing!  If you need to assemble an antipasti platter for a platter – this would be the place for you.  The marinated peppers and artichokes looked mighty fine.  I ended up with a $10 ball of burrata.  But this is not a Trader Joe's burrata, made in Monrovia, California,  it was a burrata imported from Italy.  And it was soooo very good.

  6. The things seem pretty fresh and legit here. We ordered the subs here and they were delish! I saw that they have homemade pasta and sausages here. Will definitely try it next time!

  7. A really good sandwich – had the turkey, hot peppers, and mozzarella sandwich. A very generous portion and a great, subtle smokey taste throughout that will have me coming back. Could use some mustard.

Got a few meatballs too, because why not?

Not the cheapest place in the world, but not prohibitively expensive either. Sandwich was about $9. 2 large meatballs from the prepared food case came to $5.

    I'd go back.

  8. This is a great little grocery store to pick up some homemade pasta, homemade sauce, homemade mozzarella, fresh baked bread, and little packaged Italian goodies. I haven't seen some of these packaged goods since I studied abroad in Rome! (or in Eataly : )) The prices are little bit higher, but the goods are quality so in my opinion it is worth it. It's not the absolute best Italian grocery store I have ever been to, but it's pretty darn good. I would recommend it.
