Rustik Tavern
“There is happy hour until 8pm with wine for about $3 a glass and beer or well drinks for not too much more.”
“Thanks Rustik
BTW Rustik offers a boozy brunch that ends at 4, I am unsure if its weekends only, but the concept is awesome.”
“and then I has the chicken and waffles (so soft and fluffy, and a nice hint of cinnamon sweetness that I didn't even need syrup.”

The Steak and Mashed Potatoes were so delicious! The atmosphere is quaint and there was spoken word (poetry) and people going up to sing on the stage when I dined in this restaurant the first time. The participants are so talented! The seasonings and flavor of the food is simply wonderful! The waitress exuded lovely customer service.
Came here yesterday, Sunday, for brunch. It was a bit of a trek to get here so I was really hoping that it would be good. There was good and not so good about our visit.
Got there about 12:30 the restaurant wasn't crowded yet. The decor was very nice. Like the name suggests it was rustic. We were greeted and seated right away. (Good)
Our waitress while very sweet was a bit of a… space cadet. I'm just going to assume that she was new. When she came back to your table to take our order she didn't say anything she just stood there. Didn't ask if we want to start with a drink or anything. So I just started talking. She wasn't very familiar with the brunch drink special. She had to go ask someone when I asked her about it. My bf ordered steak and eggs. She didn't ask how he wanted the eggs or the steak. After some moments of silence he had to fill in the blanks. Then she came back to the table 15 minutes later asking if we ordered. (Not so good)
We choose to go for the $30 unlimited drink options (90 minutes) that included an entree. Drinks included mimosa, Bellini, screwdrivers, and Bloody Mary. After a couple of signals the first few times to bring another round she was on it and made sure we were taken care of the rest of the time we were there (Good)
We were told we have to stick to our first selection and couldn't switch (Not so Good)
Every other place I've been allows you to switch your drink as you go along. Not the biggest deal I guess.
So before our food arrives and we are waiting there is a man at the bar that is clearly drunk and it's just 12:30. He's swaying at the bar and trying to sing to the bartender that is ignoring him. He is clearly familiar with the place and the staff and probably the owner because at one point he tries to go behind the bar. The bartender tries to block him quietly without a scene but is unable and he goes behind the bar and gets himself a glass. He tries to go into a closet they have back there. Bartender again tries to stop him but can't. Then he goes to pour himself a beer from the tap. Once again she tries but is unsuccessful and he starts drinking behind the bar. As a customer seeing this made me very uncomfortable. (Bad)
The saving grace from this scene was the food. It was very good! I got the chicken and waffles. Chicken was nice and crispy. Waffles had good flavor. My bf got steak and eggs which came with home fries. The home fries were good and so was the steak. Only thing is that the steak was a bit under. He asked for med well and it was more like med. (Good)
I HATE when I forget to take a photo of the awesomeness I experience but I'll work on that. I promise!! Anywhoo, Who could think of a better way to spend a Saturday afternoon than having brunch in a trendy, Bed-sty joint, sipping UNLIMITED bloody marys (mimosas, belinis OR ALL 3 if youd like), listening to Zhane, eating Chicken and Waffles, with friends. The vibe (and the food) is everything I needed in my life at that moment.
Oh, and their brunch hours are INSANELY awesome: sat 11-4, Sun til 6. That right there is BLINNER (brunch and dinner)
Rustik tavern is a cool neighborhood spot whether you're having weekend brunch or just hanging out at the bar for happy hour. There's a nice and spacious patio with sun umbrellas for the warmer degree days. They have a decent brunch menu with an "unlimited brunch" option; they do a good job of keeping your glass full. I had the steak and eggs here several times. The steak was well marinated like they stated and it
wasn't chewy or tough. Reserve a table so you don't have to wait during brunch hours. Other than that the place is normally empty when I walk by so I'm certain walk ins are welcome.
There are times when you find myself at $100 minimum dining experiences and sometimes it's wonderful and sometimes it's not. On occasion, I find myself at places where I truly don't know what to expect and have no expectations. Today was that day!
I wanted to have a few drinks with a good friend last night but it didn't work out so I decided to have brunch instead. There is a neighborhood joint that I would have normally suggested but this time, I decided to ask my very good friend to suggest an alternative. He suggested the Rustik Tavern.
I'm not in a habit of second guessing my friends because they have such great taste. I hadn't heard of the Rustik Tavern but I have to tell you, it was simply amazing.
I arrived early and sat at the bar and asked for some tea which was great. It wasn't great because after all it was just tea but it went down great because the female bartender offered me some options. It's seems simple but that made me feel good.
My friend arrived and we decided to remain at the bar. I ordered the shrimp and grits and my buddy ordered the chicken and waffles. I can't say it was the best I ever had but it was clear that it was made with love and it tasted as much. I arrived at 11:45 and didn't leave until 2:45, I didn't want to leave. The food and vibe, especially made me feel as if I were with my closest friends in my own kitchen. Well done, I will be back again, very soon!
Rustik Tavern gets better and better every time I go back…. so today I was in the mood for desert… and the only place I could think of to satisfy my craving was Rustik.. and let me tell you it did not dissapoint…
The menu has changed for the BETTER…. Better menu from the first time I visited Rustik
Started out with the oh so delicious beet and kale salad w fried goat cheese and crunchy walnuts… i added chicken…. five dayum stars… totally on point!
Great convo with my girl…. wine… and some old school tunes with some 90's flavor… I was in my element… after our salad digested… it was time for desert….
Double Fudge Brownie w Vanilla Icecream…… some body paleeeeez smack me twice…. off the charts…. TEN Darn Stars… done!
I came here on a sunday and did i fall and bump my head. I was told to call and put in my reservation and yet i did not and we waited about 2 hours for a table.
Was the wait worth it, yes the hell it was. The food was great. I had ordered steak and eggs and my friend ordered the chicken n waffle. She also had the unlimited mimosas or belinies which can be a problem in a crowded place.
My only issue was the lack of space. They fit a beautiful small resturant into a tiny space. Nothing but elbow to elbow service that no one ordered.
But will i go back,,,, yes i would.
Sunday Brunch is so a thing now…Idk how that happened but it has. This particular Sunday myself and few friends were celebrating a friend's birthday. Why not do it with a $30 boozy brunch. Yup, you read that correctly… $30 boozy brunch. That's a great price but, was it worth it??
We had 2:30 reservations… however since 1 of our party was 5 minutes late our table was given away. So there is no grace period. So we contemplated going somewhere else, but the hunger and fear of another place being just as packed kept us right there waiting. We were seated around 3ish…so now I just hope the food was worth it.
We ordered and the food came out within 20mins or less. We had a house salad for the table that was one of the best salads I've ever had or I was just to hungry to think otherwise. 5 mins after the salad was destroyed entrees came out. I and a friend ordered the tres leches French toast…Amazing!!! No syrup needed but of course I added some. Steak and eggs, chicken and waffles, shrimp and grits. Of course the swapping ensued with everyone tasting each other's food. The steak and eggs were tasty, they season their egg…thank you!. The chicken was surprisingly good enough for me to want to actually go back and get that next time around…yall know how I feel about good fried chicken. The one dud seemed to be the shrimp and grits. I didn't taste it but my friend who go it only liked the shrimp. Maybe not enough seasoning in the grits.
All and all it was worth the price and extra wait time. So I'm sure I'll partake again.
