  1. This location is inside of an office building near the mall. Not what you would expect from a world renowned steakhouse.

Inside the restaurant the service is good and so is the atmosphere, but the food underwhelmed. The portions seem to be smaller than most and the flavor was good but not incredible.

I enjoyed my meal I just wish I was more satisfied.

Note: I did truly enjoy the softness of their napkins.

  2. My latest experience here was lacking a little when compared to past visits.
The menu has gotten a few updates and from what I experienced they were all negative.
The gumbo seemed like it could be store bought. Their mushrooms used to be amazing, the new recipe leaves them as ok. I'm pretty sure that the creamed spinach recipe was different also. They no longer offer Au Poivre sauce which was a huge let down!
The even changed the recipe for their amazing bread pudding. I have no idea why they would mess with perfection. If it ain't broke don't fix it!!!
Yes the steak is still good and I still recommend this place, but it ain't what it used to be….

  3. I would like to start by saying our food looked nothing like the first few pictures on Yelp. Those look photoshopped and definitely had lots of editing. It's more of a 3.5 stars, rather than 3 stars.

We were a little late for our reservation and they didn't seem to mind. When we got to our table, there was a birthday card for my boyfriend, as they had asked if we were celebrating any type of occasion. Our server was very helpful, refilled our drinks often, and had a sense of humor.

I ordered off the Ruth's Classic menu, which included a starter, entree, side dish, and dessert for either $45.95 or $55.95. First off, the gumbo was a burst of flavor. The heat was just enough to compliment the chicken, sausage, and veggies. They're known for their serving their steaks on a sizzling plate, as they should be. Both of our steaks were cooked extremely well and were juicy and tender. They were cooked to the temperature we asked for (many steakhouses mess that up). Next, the stuffed lobster tail was succulent and had just the right amount of seasoning. There were only 3 shrimp on my plate, with my 6 oz. filet. However, they were cooked to perfection. I do wish there were more for the price. We got a side of the southwest mac and cheese; the cheese had a good consistency and was stringy, which is my favorite part about mac and cheese. There were a few peppers in it to give it a nice kick.

My boyfriend got a complimentary cheesecake for his birthday! I got a combination of turtle cheesecake and cranberry-pecan chocolate bark. It was very decadent and a great way to end our meal. Overall, the food was delicious, but way overpriced.

  4. Crab stack: very good, with chunks of crab and mango, paired with a spicy sauce
    Mango margarita: also good
Porterhouse for 2: tender, juicy, and sizzling. Ruth's Chris is known for their copious amounts of butter on the steak, but I found it overwhelming.

While it was a good experience, I doubt I would go back. For the same price, I would rather eat at Peter Luger.

  5. 5 stars for service, 2 stars for food – that's why I gave it 3 stars.  Brian, our server, was really good – the right amount of humor, patience, friendliness, professionalism without being overbearing. Ribeye, Porter House, and Petite Filet. All cooked to perfection (med rare), but the meat flavor could have been better. I can't explain it other than I've tasted better red meat.

Shoe string fries were good in texture (first time I've ever had crispy shoe string fries; usually they're stuck together and soggy) and flavor (salt + pepper).  Brussel sprouts with maple bacon was just OK – it tasted like it was drowned in butter. Actually, all their dishes had a strong butter taste. I know that the meat is braised with butter (the server tells you – and throws in "everything is better with butter"), but the butter shouldn't out-shine the meat's flavor, IMO.

The best part was the salted soft/whipped butter that accompanied the table's warm bread and crackers.

The ambiance is really dark. I'm not an interior decorator, but maybe they were going for an old school steak house interior? I don't know but it was too dark, even for a Friday night dinner. That kind of ambiance didn't make me want to stay for dessert.

I wouldn't come back. But if you do go, you can expect good service.

  6. I always avoided Ruth's Chris Steak House. I went to the chain in Ft. Lauderdale a few years ago when I was on a business trip. I don't remember it being too memorable and driving by the restaurant every single day for three years, my subconscious said hmm.. why not have steak for dinner?

Driving up, the valet parking attendant who looks younger than my son says keys please. Yeah… I saw Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Get to stepping sucka!

The restaurant is in an office building, don't look straight, look right for the restaurant door.
Once inside, its a large space. You're facing a bar along with a few cool looking booths? Very very cool, I grabbed a happy hour/lunch menu, this looks up my alley for future visits.

Once seated inside, I'm looking at the walls. What the HELL am I looking at? I see a tiger who's looking at me as well as The Garden of Eden? I wanna eat steak and not see asses with snakes. It's a interesting looking restaurant but I'm not getting a steakhouse vibe.

My server comes over, I tell him I'm hungry but not too hungry. I saw on the website a mini tomahawk steak? He says nah, we don't have that here and rattles off specials like a robot. I stop him and say, I don't want a filet but I don't want a huge piece of beef. He recommends the cowboy rib eye. I say giddy up my good man, give me a side of those mushrooms and a glass of Rioja please.

Now the waiter comes back and he's asking if I'm from the area? What's with the small talk? I tell him I'm just passing thru.

My steak is taking a long time, aren't these things cooked under a 1200 degree broiler?? I wasn't going to dive into the bread basket, I had a dinner roll and a few pieces of the flat breads. I didn't want to ruin my dinner and get full on bread. About 20 minutes later my dinner comes out.

It was a good steak cut, cooked perfectly. I take my time and enjoy my meal. The bill comes and I give my debt card. The waiter comes back and starts asking me again where I'm from. I live out east, why…. Houstons is closed, we all stopped going to Capital Grill, what is this guy driving at, does he want to be my personal waiter??

I had a nice meal at Ruth's Chris Steak House. I see myself coming back here for happy hour and lunch. If you like the chain then add a star.

  7. I had a great experience at Ruth's Chris. I dined in with a group of 12, our reservation was for 630pm but my mother and I arrived a bit early. Instead of waiting in the front we noticed it was Happy Hour and proceeded to get seats at the bar. We spent over an hour there waiting for the rest of the group to arrive and were taken care of by the bartender. My moscato was delicious and the Niki BBE martini I had was also a nice combination but weak. Bacardi, Malibu, pineapple juice, triple sec and a splash of blue curacao not overly sweet but still weak.

The decor is very traditional with navy walls, blue curtains and dark wood; your typical American steakhouse. They definitely could have recorded a scene from the Godfather in there lol. The restaurant was decorated festively as well, poinsettia here, reef there. They also placed jingling bells on our place settings, which we all wore around around our necks during dinner.

Our original reservation was for 10 people but the manager Mariola was extremely accomodating concerning our additional 2 guests. The table next to us was occupied but Mariola approached them and explained the dilema. In exchange for their table she offered them a comped appetizer/dessert. They happily obliged and we were grateful for the extra space.

The food was excellent! I had the blackened salmon with a side of sweet potato casserole. In my entire 30 years of being on this earth I have never, EVER had salmon that was as delicious as the one that I got last night! It was blackened to perfection, all the right seasonings crusted on top, so flavorful and moist. Ughh I'm drooling just thinking about it! The sweet potato casserole wasn't the prettiest of dishes but it was absolutely delicious. It wasn't too sweet, some of the potatoes were still in tact (not all mashed), theres was a subtle honey flavor and an awesome crunch on top from the pecans. All in compass my meal was delightful. Everyone else at the table raved about their food. Stand out items were the lamb chops, crab cakes and salmon ofcourse.

All in all the service was good and the food, impeccable! I would return, just on someone elses dollar lol

  8. Really really good.  Had a great meal here with family last week.  But man it is expensive.  We ordered a ton, from the seafood tower to the special tomahawk rib eye served with limited edition steak knives. Others had filets and enjoyed those as well. We skipped dessert as we were all too full from the ton of food we ordered for apps and dinner. Drinks were poured stiff, and a nice bottle of malbec went down easily.  Bring your checkbook for this one.  Also, jeans and button down is fine, don't need to be too dressed up.  It's not as good as a non-chain steak house (i.e. Peter Luger's, Teller's, etc.), but it is still pretty darn good.  Make sure to make a reservation, place can get crowded during prime times.  Also, try to avoid sitting in the back set-off room, we missed out on the ambiance of the rest of the restaurant back there and it was pretty cold.  Bar was packed but we didn't stop to have a drink before the meal. Don't bring kids here, you'll ruin everyone else's meal.
