First time here and the experience was great. From the moment you enter to when you leave you receive great service. Kevin was our waiter and he was excellent. Nice and attentive. Now the food… I had the salmon and switched out the quash for spinach yummmmy. My BF ordered the organic chicken… Super yummmppppp. The food was presented beautifully and made to perfection. I will definitely come back here.
I'm easy to piss off and overall a picky person when dining out, so I was hella worried about dining at RW Prime when I saw such bad reviews. I still made a reservation because I had 2 $100 vouchers for RW Prime. Things can't be so bad when all I'm paying out of pocket is tax+tip on a meal. The place honestly deserves a 3.5, but I'm rounding it up just because RW Prime exceeded all my expectations and they really don't deserve a 2.5 overall rating.
What people have to remember is they're dining in a "steakhouse" inside a crappy machine-only casino in Jamaica, Queens. RW Prime isn't Del Frisco's or Quality Meats and it never will be so don't expect Del Frisco's service, OR food for that matter. The service here wasn't the most professional, but servers were friendly. Some reviews stated that the servers were rude and not attentive or just nowhere to be found. My experience was totally different. The hostess wasn't the brightest bulb and stuttered a lot for absolutely no reason, but was friendly and led us to our seat as soon as she pulled herself together. Our glasses of water were never empty and were always being refilled without asking. Our order was promptly taken and food arrived in a timely manner.
Onto the food – Menu is limited so there isn't a large variety. Food is decent, but we did have a major miss in one of our dishes. Again, this is only a restaurant inside a crappy casino – PLEASE don't expect Del Frisco's type of food even if the cost is hefty. The cost is also hefty because you are in a casino (duh), not because the food is worth that price markup. I decided to use only 1 of my $100 vouchers for my bf & I and it was just enough to fill us up. We opted for a caesar salad, a seafood linguini, and a 22oz bone-in ribeye to share. That totaled to exactly $100 post tip+tax so we ended up paying $30 out of pocket for our meal just to cover tip+tax. The caesar salad was excellent. Lettuce was fresh with a great crunch, dressing was on point, anchovies were delicious. The linguini was a no-go. The sauce was watered down, and the pasta itself was overcooked. We learned our lesson and already decided not to order any pasta dishes in the future. The ribeye wasn't exactly the best looking ribeye, but the taste was there. It tasted like a good aged steak. Not the best and not worth $55, but it definitely was not a bad entree. RW Prime also gives a side of Peter Lugers sauce on the side for the steak incase one finds the steak too bland. I personally hate that sauce so I just pushed it to the side.
Now would I come here again? DUH. I have another voucher to use and I don't mind trying the Porterhouse on my next visit. So if you gamble enough at Resorts World to accumulate dining credits – I would definitely say give RW Prime a try. $100 spent here is better than $30 spent at the nasty food court downstairs. But would I come here again without a dining voucher? Nope. Not because the food is bad, but simply because the food is overpriced due to it's location.
My relatives insist on having me meet them here for dinner (casino addicts) and since they were treating I couldn't protest too much. As usual the food was excellent and as in the past the service was abysmal. Waitress disappeared and never came to fill water glasses. After flagging bus boy, he went into the back room to get waitress. He could of just filled my glass. it seems all the wait staff hide out back there with the busboys. Now guess what? We were the only diners in the place, so it wasn't like she was swamped. After entrees, she asked if we were ready for dessert, we stated, sure, but can we see the menu? Duh? It took her another 10 minutes for her to make her way back. I needed more dressing on my saIad, and no wait staff came around for like 20 minutes. I think my next move is to track down the mgt. there were no managers to be seen. The hostesses stood around chatting and couldn't care less if we were stranded without service. WHAT is going on with this place? Very strange since the food is very good. While we there some patrons came in and stood at the hostess podium waiting to be seated. The hostess again disappeared for about 15-20 minutes. I could see them getting annoyed with NO one greeting/seating them!! Such a shame management is oblivious!
