Oh god! I thought that by going to the "new" Sabrosura would've been a good idea. I guess not. Anyway, I ordered Chicharrones con tostones, spare ribs with plain fried rice and shrimp and broccoli. I'm actually getting excited and hyped because we are getting food from this new place.
We pick up the order and bring it home. I'm opening containers and serving as well as picking as I go. I dig in for the tostones and they are freaking stuck together and they taste horrible. How the hell do you mess up tostones? The oil was stinky and tasted like freaking lard or something. Anyway onto the Chicharrones de pollo… They were tasteless when you bit in to them they were oily and disgusting shrimp and broccoli was ok not the best. My husband's plain fried rice was dark like when you mix black beans and rice to make a Moro but darker what the hell. Anyway we will not go for any food there again. It was gross.
They get crazy props for being able to accommodate a group of about 20 hungry guys. The restaurant itself is actually quite large, and we basically took over their back section. The staff was very friendly and surprisingly, got all the orders correct. I've been to quite a few restaurants that screw up groups that are much smaller. Our waters were always being filled, and our dishes were announced to us.
The truly superhuman feat was that we put in our food order (which was like 4 orders of 8 different dishes), and no joke, food started coming out after a 15 minute wait, and ALL of it was on our table within 25 minutes of ordering. It wasn't sloppily done either, which was surprising. We all had to ask each other, "Didn't we just order? How long has it been?"
My favorites were the Filet of Pacific Basa and Nuevo Latino Fried Rice.
The Pacific Basa was super moist and packed so much flavor. I'm usually wary of ordering fish when eating out because dry fish is no bueno. It came served on this sizzling platter and I may have eaten half of it myself from my end of the table's portion.
The Nuevo Latino Fried Rice had chicharron, chicken, egg, and some other stuff in there, and it was definitely one of the more interesting fried rice dishes I've had in a while. I also don't usually order fried rice when eating out because I figure it's easy enough to do at home. Yeah, I can't do what they did here.
I was also a pretty big fan of the roast pork we got. It looked like your generic roast pork you get at a chinese restaurant, but the flavoring was different. I think someone mentioned they use bourbon when making it O_O
There wasn't a single dish that was bad, only negative I have to say is their fries tasted average, and the steak was slightly overcooked.
The food is probably a 4, but the great service makes this place a 5. I've never been to a Chinese-Latino restaurant before, but I was more than happy with my meal here at Sabrosura 2.
Nice restaurant I had the Monfongo with shrimp and the chicken fried rice. It was good. They have fast service and a nice dining area. The only problem that I have with them is that they take cash only.
This one is much more spacious its closer to home and it doesn't feel like you're on top of the other person at the other table while you're eating. I had their Flamingo Fish for the first time ever. The Camaronfongo was my go to dish everytime. The Flamingo Fish has now taken its place!
