new-ish coffee/pastry/hangout to sponge wifi on Ave C.
this place used to be a cultural center with music etc. i was told those people are still involved with Saint in some capacity.
the space is brand-spanking new. super clean. bright. constantly smells like freshly baked pastries. yum. it has a Starbucks esque setup except without all the unnecessary dark decor flourishes.
there's a piano here, so there is some live music evening, days, etc.
all in all it seems like a good place FOR catching up with friends, writing/working during the morning and day, stealing wifi, lukewarm first dates when quick exits are needed.
all in all i like this place and the staff is earnest and kind.
however i'm knocking two stars off because the iced coffee brew/quality is much to be desired. heavy on the acid and it felt low on the caffeine kick. now i'm no coffee snob–i drink Dunkin Donuts on the reg (daily). i take mine black no sugar. i enjoy the taste of freshly brewed then chilled coffee. Saints' cool brew was chilled but not up to par. i will definitely re-review in a couple of months as this place is probably still getting its act together. i can only speak to the iced coffee as i haven't tried their normal hot brews. also part of that 2 star subtraction is because most bodegas in the area percolate perfect Bustelo's iced coffee for two bucks in a bigger sized cup. so essentially i paid 3 bucks for half a cup of acid-y coffee and half a cup of ice.
dropz mic so i can two fist some D&D iced brew to get my caff-iend on! i out! zzz
