I got the taro green milk tea with bubbles today, but I've also tried their Thai tea bubble tea in the past. Yes, they do use powder to make their bubble teas but I must say that it doesn't taste all that bad. From a scale of 1 to 10 I will give this bubble tea a solid 6. It doesn't give you that nasty powdery taste like most other places around here does it which I really appreciate. I'll only get bubble tea here if I need a quick fix and don't want to travel all the way to flushing for real bubble tea. Also, their Thai tea bubble tea is probbaly one of the better ones that they have.
I stopped in here one evening for the famous salads and enjoyed my own DIY-Do It Yourself salad. There were a few people in front of me and I had to wait awhile before I ordered which was great to have additional time to figure out what I want before I get to the register looking like duh. LOL
My salad was romaine lettuce, grilled chicken, corn, cucumbers, soy beans and tangerine slices equals yummy! The salad was a bit pricey. However, it was fulfilling and I ate it all one sitting. I also ordered the green tea bubble tea which was a great combination.
The staff were friendly and answered my questions with no attitudes. I remember parking was limited in the area and there wasn't a lot of commercial stores in the immediate area. This is definitely a spot I would check out again.
This is The Promised Land of Salad! So many unique options, dressings, teas and organic juices. I never visit Flushing without having my fix of BoBo Tea. In search of tea, I stumbled upon Salad Shack. It was almost high noon and I was famished, so I GPS' d it and found parking close by.
I was greeted by Ian who was polite, prompt and professional. I reviewed the menu and decided on Salad To Riches. Walnuts, cranberries, parmesan cheese, tomato, cucumber on a bed of romaine spring mix featuring a Mango Vinegarette dressing. I paired my salad with a Taro Green Bubble Tea with tapioca balls. The Taro Milk Green tea was light, refreshing and not overly sweetened.
Everything was finger lickin good. This place is nothing but a blessing to lunch breaks. Service and the cost effective quality of the food won my heart over.
Very nice establishment. Came here twice, only for drinks but I planned to come back again to try perhaps one of their sandwiches or salad! I ordered the mango slush and mango green tea. What I especially liked was the fact they they have pulp in their mango and strawberry drinks, which makes it more interesting. The last time I visited, I tried the lychee slush in which you can add jelly for 75 cents. The little jellies are star-shaped and are super cute! Prices are reasonable as a well! Would recommend!
I had never ordered from Salad shack before or have even seen it yet. I live fairly close to the place but never saw it on union ever.
Last week, sporadically, I decided to order off GrubHub and went with Salad Shack, after seeing some really good reviews and pictures. I ordered a rice bowl, a sandwich, and some soup, since I was especially hungry and also had to meet their minimum. Got a call from Salad Shack a few mins after placing my order, and they said they were out of the soup I wanted, so I had to pick something else. No big deal.
I'm sitting here expecting the food to take 45-60 minutes. Trust me when I say, 20 minutes later my foods at my door. That's fine by my standards. I dig into my rice bowl and wrap, and they're both delicious. The Clam Chowder wasn't too "sandy" and everything was pretty delicious. I was pretty filled up by the end of it.
Good job Salad Shack!
I have to agree with Emily Y, they lose a star because of their price. I ordered the Moose salad and it was good. The place is nice and clean with a few tables and a nice counter to look out onto Union Tpke. The staff was great and helpful. They also were ready to handle the lunch crowd. I will stop by next time I'm in the area as it looks for certain that its the best choice around. Maybe i'll check out a tea or smoothie.
Salad Shack is very efficient which makes it an awesome lunch time choice. We put in an office order with about ten items. The order was ready in about 20 mins and everything was correct. Their reliability is superb.
I had a custom wrap. All of the ingredients were fresh, and the wrap tasted great without dressing. The price point was fantastic too. All of the item were about $8-10.
At 1 pm, we had an empty stomach and a full bowl of "The Moose" salad, with romaine lettuce, grilled chicken, celery, sliced tomato, blue cheese crumbles, carrots and the Shack's signature crunches.
Roughly 30 minutes later, the stomach was satisfyingly filled and the large clam shell-shaped bowl was completely empty. Every last carrot sliver.
Hard to believe this excellent salad specialty shop has been so close to my workplace for so long and I never found it on my own. Thank heavens for Yelp that I discovered such a new favorite. Glad for all you excellent reviewers for your raves.
They've got other choices, sandwiches and wraps, yogurt and sweet treats. And I really can't wait to check out the smoothies soon.
So good, so friendly, so convenient and so yummy.
