  1. Saladworks functions as a non-Do It Yourself salad bar, which is both good and bad.

The quality of ingredients is certainly better than your average cafeteria salad bar, and the fact that the people working there whip up said salad very quick. But customization is difficult, since you have to order at the cash register before walking back to look at ingredients. You kind of need to wander back and forth between the cashier and the salad area to figure out what exactly you want.

Overall, it's certainly healthier than most fast food in the area, but Saladworks just makes me wish for a nicer salad bar that I can manage myself.

  2. After having passed by Saladworks a few times, I decided to go for a quick dinner around 7:30 on a weeknight (ya know, since we're on a health kick and everything).

I get chopped salads on a weekly basis for lunch by my job in NYC and was happy to find a spot around the corner from home.  Having never been there before, I immediately walked over to the salad guy and started to tell him what I wanted, but was immediately redirected to the counter to order first.  No prob- I ordered off of the big menu on the wall (a create your own salad with 5 ingredients) and my boyfriend ordered the chicken caesar salad wrap.  I asked to have my salad chopped and the cashier added this detail to my order.

I walk over to the salad guy who has begun to prepare my salad.  They were out of croutons, so I asked for sunflower seeds instead.  I asked him to chop the salad since I saw him wrapping it with big chunks of broccoli and a piece of iceburg lettuce the size of my fist, but he cut me off and said all ingredients are "pre-chopped".  Okay- obviously not if they're that huge.

The ingredients were definitely lower quality for the price.  There was barely any chicken in my salad and it was chewy.  The dressing tasted watered down.  I took a bite of my boyfriend's chicken wrap and got a mouthful of lettuce.  I don't mind paying a little more for fresh, healthy food but this just wasn't good at all.  I'm hoping to try another salad place I saw down the road.

  3. The salad itself isn't bad but the service is terrible.  I asked for no tomatoes or peppers for my husband's salad.  The woman at the register even repeated my order.  When I opened the salad at home there they were–tomatoes and peppers.  My husband spent some time picking them out.  I think their bad service is due to the language barrier or lack or attention from their employees.  Hopefully in the future their employees can do a better job, read the customer's order, and prepare it correctly.

  4. Saladworks has much more than salad… menu has sandwiches, pasta, etc.

I ordered the chicken caesar salad.  was good, and had enough for lunch and dinner.

Salads are a little on the pricy side.. but it was a decent meal.
