First visit for dinner to the recently opened Saltaire Restaurant.
The restaurant decor is pleasant and the seating spacious. The wait staff were helpful and knowledgable but the menu is somewhat limited choice-wise.
The actual meal was OK but nothing special and in conclusion rather overpriced. I ordered the Lobster Pot Pie and it didn't come up to my expectation either in quantity or quality for the $38.00 charged.
Really wouldn't rush back here. There are lots of other good, more reasonably priced restaurants in the neighborhood.
Located in a beautifully refurbished old grain warehouse on the banks of the Byram River in Port Chester. Saltaire is a welcome addition to the area, replacing Willet House.
Excellent oyster selection, both East and West coasts. Daily fresh fish selections on the menu, as the menu is printed daily, a very good sign. Small and large plates, raw/cold or hot: Tuna tartar, salmon poke, calamari, mussels, clams, scallops. Main course of catch of the day: Halibut, Snapper, Salmon, Tuna, Swordfish, Branzini, Lobster. Also, non seafood items, an excellent Angus burger, steak, duck, pork belly. Salads, harvest greens, poached pear & endive, roasted beets, a gulf shrimp Cobb salad.
* Excellent variety of cocktails – wines and beers from artisan wines, local brewers and craft distillers*
*Happy hour: Monday-Friday 4-7pm – $1.00 oysters, $7 wine by the glass, $4-$5 beers*
