  1. The food at Salut was amazing. Just remembering the beef kebabs is making my mouth water. I am not a huge fan of lamb, but my friends who like it said the lamb kebabs were excellent as well.

Basically, everything we ordered was delicious. Even a simple carrot salad had us all grabbing the platter for seconds. The bread was also delicious.

There is a beer on the menu called Baltika which, I learned that day, comes in several varieties denoted by a number. The 9 is the darkest and most flavorful. The others pale in comparison. The 3 is very light. There was one that was like Heineken and one like Corona. I don't remember which one was which. One is the 5 and one is the 7. But seriously, just stick with the 9.

I almost forgot the garlic and parsley fries. All fries should be this delicious. Just make sure everyone at your table is eating them.

  2. The kosher restaurant "Salute" has some really great food (kabobs, babaganoush, bread, salads, and a dumpling soup to die for) at pretty low prices.  The service is pretty slow and not particularly friendly. Also be prepared to wait as they only have 8-10 tables and many of those who eat there tend to linger and chit chat over tea for hours.

  3. My boyfriend had a craving for something different and found this place which is close to where he lives so we decided to try it out, we have since been there one other time. It is a very small space and gets crowded fast even during weeknights for dinner and parking is a pain so that is the reason for 4 stars instead of 5.

We were the only non-russian speaking people in the establishment both times. The first time we got seated pretty fast since it was just two of us and they were very friendly, I tried the Baltika beer which I enjoyed.

The first time around we got a few appetizers one steamed and one fried dumpling couldn't remember exactly what they were not that memorable. Shurpa soup which wasnt to bad, we got that again for lunch today and it was much better…the lamb melted in your mouth and went perfectly with this giant loaf of Tandoori bread that was fresh out of the oven. We got the house salad this time around which was great and we also had a tomato and onion salad which was also great.

We got a few different kabobs, they did not have quail either time which I wanted to try. The beef special cut is wonderful, it melts in your mouth and hands down was the best kabob we got. We also tried the lamb, salmon and lamb rib. The salmon was also very excellent since the skin was on and it roasted off a bit so it was crispy on the outside and melted in your mouth.

All in all we had wonderful meals both times we went and it was super cheap, the first time we got alot of food and alcohol and it wasnt more than 40 bucks. The only thing I could do without was the calorie listings next to each food item! We will def be back, also I like that they do not rush you out and let you enjoy your food.

  4. This is review is for the delivery I actually have never been to the restaurant but I can say their food is good and the delivery is quick and on time. The Beef, Chicken and lamb kebabs are juicy and tender. I also had the Achik-Chuck salad and the Korean carrot salad which was fresh. You must also try the Asian Pilaf salad. Great kosher place for takeout/delivery.

  5. There's a rumor going around that all the Bukharian restaurants in Queens have the same menu. That's simply not true! Salut has a much smaller menu as compared to the rest that have the standard array of salads (Pickled vegetable, Carrot: Morkovcha), soups (Lagman, Shurpa, Pelmeni), appetizers (Samsa, Manti, Cheburecki), and a dozen shish kebabs across chicken, lamb, beef, and veal.

But don't get deceived by that – as they've only bothered to print the Shish kebabs on the menu. You can still order all the other items as well, including Hummus and the Lepeshka bread. So, ask and ye shall find.

I wish I could say something inspiring about the restaurant, other than the fact that the language barrier was the lowest across all the other Bukharian restaurants I've eaten in the city. I was about to avoid any negative comment on the food, but then I remembered that they had something on the short menu that described how juicy the chicken kebabs were, given their unique style of cooking. Bwahahaha!

At least they have a sense of humor. I can't give them more credit than that.

  6. Excellent food! Was here last week for a birthday dinner party. Unfortunately, it was extremely full. Good thing we had reservations. Food came out in reasonable timing. Ordered fish, chicken, lamb and beef kabobs. All delicious, nothing dry or overcooked. Also, got the fresh and pickled salads. As well as french fries, lagman soup and manti. Absolutely no complaints. Food was great. Service was OK, they tried their best to service us. Only complaint was just so loud couldn't hear ourselves think. But not their fault was just a good day for business. Will be back agian
