  1. I came here along with my friend who wanted to have some authentic Uzbek food. We started off with samsas, which were triangular meat pies. The meat inside was flavorful and the crust was superb. Next came the plov. I was very impressed with the rice they used; it was a medium-grain variety that was very chewy yet maintained its texture as individual grains. I haven't had rice this chewy that wasn't also sticky (like Japanese rice or glutinous rice). The amount of salt and oil used were perfect.

Finally, we had lamb rib kebab, along with potatoes with mushrooms and bread on the side. The kebab was tasty but the amount of meat was a bit disappointing, for $5 you got four rib bones with only a small amount of edible meat on them. The potatoes with mushrooms was very salty, but according to my friend it's supposed to be a side that complements blander things (like the bread).

Throughout the meal we were sipping on kompot. It was sweet but not overly so, the perfect balance for a refreshing beverage.

    81/100
