I came here early on a Saturday night before heading to the botanical garden's train show. We didn't have a reservation and it was very crowded, but we were able to get a table. We told the server we didn't have much time and he was sure to make sure everything came out on time. That was very much appreciated.
We started with a mozzarella and tomato salad. As entrees, we had ravioli in a bolognese sauce and lasagna. Both were delicious. They were cooked well and had good sauce. For dessert we ordered two cappuccinos and the panacotta. Overall, this restaurant had good service and good food. I liked it and next time I am in the Bronx, I will definitely return.
Came here with a work colleague for an early lunch after a nearby meeting. I'll admit, we were trying to go to a different Italian spot but it wasn't open until 12, and we were there around 11. Turns out, the other place being closed was a blessing in disguise because this place was great!
Started off with an order of baked clams. Delicious. I find baked clams will often feature breading on breading with an overdone clam at the bottom of the shell. While this spot didn't skimp out on the breading, the clam itself was still delicious and perfectly cooked.
For the main course, I had the branzino. This dish was fantastic. Again, I've had some bad experiences with branzino, even at good restaurants, but this place really delivered. As an added bonus – the fish came with a really generous bowl of mussels in a spicy marinara sauce, which made for a filling and great entree for $24.
My colleague got the linguini with clam sauce and he seemed to enjoy it. All the above for about 70/person (no wine, but did get a bottle of sparking water).
Our visit to the Bronx is never without going to Arthur Ave for some good Italian food. The cozy restaurant was very friendly and early dinner on a Sat we beat the dinner rush. The restaurant reminded me of something out of an Al Pacino movie and fully expecting some Italian mob in the corner table slurping away on nonna's spaghetti and meatballs.
Oops, back to reality the friendly waiter and owner was funny and felt like we were welcomed t hi s home's kitchen. The calamari fritti was crispy and not overly oily. My friend went for the Gnocchi, fettuccine with shrimp and I got grilled Branzino. We were very pleased with all the dishes. My grilled fish was moist, tender and nicely seasoned. The pasta all cooked al dente and gnocchi was fresh and light as gnocchi comes.
By the end the owner was serenading to my friend as she was like from lady in the tramp. It was a nice finish to our trip out to the Bronx.
