Tapas are so delicious and actually filling. Had to take main course home. They use real, authentic spices in the food…nothing seems premade and the sangria is also very good. The shape of the restaurant is a little awkward and the host is stingy with giving away the good tables too early in the afternoon. Not a big deal though…would definitely go back again. Friendly waiters and bartender.
I went to Sangre de uva yesterday with my wife for dinner and used a groupon certificate. The restaurant itself is attractive, clean and airy.It was our first time there so we ordered several different items. We got a camarone cerviche, a enchiladas de carne a Cuban sandwich a bisteak de espana and sides of casamientios and yuca fritas. All of the dishes were excellent in quality however the enchiladas were too greasy but still quite tasty Portion size was a bit small and I was disappointed that small sides were not given with the items. The service was excellent and quite responsive. The price to value ratio here is around or slightly below average for this type of restaurant. All in all this was very good experience and I look forward to returning in the near future.
Stopped in here randomly while meeting a friend who was here visiting for the holidays. I parked my car close by and just kinda walked in. It was empty but that's fine by me- because I like empty lol Nice little place, relaxing atmosphere, low lighting. Pretty cool. The owner or manager came over and he was very nice. Very accommodating. My friend and I ordered a little dish of chips and guacamole to start which were very tasty. We ended up ordering two dishes and split them between us so we could taste a little of two things. We ordered the meatballs and the churrasco. Followed by a lava cake for dessert. I gotta say the meatballs were freaking delicious! But I wasn't a fan of the steak. It had a lot of fatty meat on it and we weren't even sure if it was churrasco. I'm under the impression that that type of meat isn't supposed to have much fatty pieces attached to it and it did. Plus the sauce tasted sorta like a bbq sauce which was strange. Wasn't expecting that. It was ok- I ended up cutting off a lot of the fatty pieces from the steak which didn't leave me with much meat. The lava cake was awesome though! Perfect size too. Oh and speaking of size- the dinner portions were very small- even for me. I did Yelp some photos of the food that people posted and the portions looked bigger on film I guess. But overall- it was a good place. I'd go back and perhaps try another dish.
Just awful. Ambiance is lacking and food is sub-par.
The atmosphere is not exciting at all. Boring decor, lack of lighting. When I think of tapas, I think of a place to go with a group of friends, but all the tables fit 2 or 4 people.
I was weary of ordering a lot of dishes, since so many of the reviews on here were not good. I cautiously ordered bacon wrapped shrimp. It was swimming in lemon. The sauce might have been okay had they not drowned it in lemon juice.
Bread was the only decent part of the meal, and it wasn't even that good.
On top of it all, it wasn't even that cheap.
I only managed to eat one piece of shrimp before shoving the rest aside. I left starving and had to go eat somewhere else.
What a shame. Could have had potential.
Visited Sangre de Uva after eyeing it up for months. Ttook the plunge after finding a $25 for $50 groupon. Had a really nice time. The space is elegant and comfortable with a bar and tvs in the front and proper tables in the back.
The outside board boasts "the best sangria in america", and the skeptic in me was weary. Split a pitcher of it and enjoyed it a lot, although I still think it's a bold statement. I'll give it to them though, it WAS good sangria, and definitely did a good job of getting the boozy to sweet ratio right. No over sacharrine here!
Anyway, tapas are usually small plates. They're not here. They're large plates advertised as small plates. We tried the cubano (huge sandwich, delicious), the gnocci (tasty, a little salty), the porto pollo (giant plate of chicken in brandy sauce) and both the camarones iberico (shrimp in garlic sauce) and the camarones panchetta (bacon wrapped shrimp in a picante sauce) due to a communication error. The camarones panchetta was the clear winner! (I also thank our waiter for giving us the camarones iberico on the house due to the mishap).
We got stuffed and still had about half of our food to take home. I'm not sure why they're calling it tapas (it's not small at all), but I'm not complaining!
