Came here for my mom's birthday. Service was great and food was fantastic. We ordered 6 different tapas: dates wrapped in bacon , baked clams with bacon, fried artichoke, baked oysters with spinach and cheese, fried calamari, and croquettes.. EVERYTHING WAS DELICIOUS ! We were so happy that if we didn't order paellas we probably would have ordered more tapas.
For drinks we had margaritas and sangria. very very good, the margarita was exactly the way my mom wanted it.
So Entrees were paellas all around. We ordered a meat only paella, a mixed one and one with a whole lobster. I think the best choice is one with a whole lobster. But it was delicious and there weren't complaints. Just very full stomachs and smiles all around.
Desserts: flan, cheesecake, creme brûlée , and tartufo. Again everything was delicious.
The price is around 8-15 for tapas and 20+ for entrees (more or less).
The decor was beautiful and you felt like you were in a different place.. The service was great and everyone was helpful and friendly.
Definitely coming back here !!!!
Sangria 71 was a pleasant surprise and not at all like I envisioned it. I thought it was a clubby atmosphere and had avoided it but to the contrary it was a traditional setting filled with tables of happy diners. The menu was vast and we decided to start with a bevy of Tapas. We had a tower of 3..clams in Green Sauce was the best! next shrimp in garlic sauce also wonderful and thirdly we had fried calamari also delish! Surprisingly, the only negative at that point was the Sangria…tasted diluted with very little red wine taste..like it was spiked with too much soda.
After this first round of Tapas we went for mains which execpt for one were terrific. The Mariscada; garlicky and delicious, A full order of Shrimp in Garlic Sauce, wonderful firm shrimp in a light sauce served in a skillet and another fish dish which I didnt have the opportunity to check out were all good with no complaints. My grilled Salmon was a loser though! I asked for med rare and got med RAW! They took it back and gave it more fire and just presented the fish on a otherwise empty plate…not the way to do it. And at that point it still was wet and cool in the middle. Wouldnt order that dish again and since everything else was really well prepared and super tasty we will return for another visit. Sangria 71 is unlike most Spanish Restaurants as the fare is truly traditional in taste and preparation.
Just finished an excellent dining experience at sangria 71. Started off with the complimentary glass of sangria (thanks Yelp!) which was incredible. It had the perfect combo of delicious wine mixed with fresh fruit.
Their appetizer tapas were incredible. We got the octopus which I highly recommend. It was very flavorful and the portion was huge. We also got the bacon wrapped dates which were delicious.
For the main portion we got the paella Valencia. It was the only disappointing order of the night. The rice was a bit hard and the flavors of the meat didn't rival the delicious flavors from the appetizers.
I also was a bit disappointed in the wait staff. We kept asking the waiter what he recommended and he said "everything" which isn't helpful.
That being said, it was definitely a great night and we will be back again!
I came here for dinner with some friends. It has a nice ambiance with a setting in between casual and formal.
We started with tapas including octopus and bacon wrapped dates. The octopus was very tasteful. I recommend squeezing the lemon on the octopus for a better taste. This was probably the best meal of the night. The bacon wrapped dates, while a little odd sounding, was also a pleasant surprise.
My husband and I shared the Marlscada in garlic sauce with a side of rice. This was also pretty good! I dipped the bread in the sauce which is always tasteful.
Overall, a great place for a fun night out with friends. I would definitely order the octopus. The sangria (with yelp check in, is complimentary) has a good amount of red wine.
I am giving it 3 stars because it was still an average meal as I did not come home raving about it.
Tried going here once before with my father and it was so crowded we couldn't go in because we didn't have a reservation. So make sure you have a reservation if you go Thursday Friday Saturday. And trust me any night you go it is so worth at this restaurant is great.
Forgot to take a picture of the specials but it looked like I think Tuesday night is paella night and Wednesday night women get drink discounts at the bar. So they do have some specials going on during the week. If you can't wait for whichever night is paella night and then go any night because the paella is fantastic.
My dad and I shared the Paella Valencia for two and oh my goodness it was so much food and every bite was amazing. It was chock-full of scallops and muscles and shrimp and chicken and sausage and it was so good. It was really nice because we got the one to share that we also got a salad to start.
My dad and I are excited to go back and we're definitely going to bring my mom next time. It's a cute restaurant when you're on the restaurant side the bar is super loud. The staff was nice. It's well decorated nice and bright. Again very cute. I can't believe it took us so long to get here because the food is so good for what the prices. Like the pie for two with $35 that's a really great deal. So guess I recommend everyone had here sometime
Pretty good Spanish restaurant in Williston Park that serves a lot of dishes one would find on a menu in Madrid. A good variety of tapas, tried the albondigas and, though tasty, didn't quite have enough garlic or sherry in the sauce. Ordered the paella Valenciana which was huge. Shrimp, scallops, muscles, clams, chicken and chorizo blended with the saffron rice. Very tasty and the chorizo thankfully didn't over power the flavors of everything else. Service was fast and friendly and prices are high but the amount of food you get compensates so it is not a rip off. Note that the paella for two at $35 is a bargain and the size of the plate is enough to feed four. Not as good as going out in Madrid but still recommended for tapas and paella.
I usually like this place but the poor service we had last week gave me a sour taste. The waiter never asked us if we wanted refills for our drinks or if the food was good or if we needed anything else. I usually had the same waiter before but this time I was embarrassed that I invited my friends to eat here. They were not impressed with the service which then affected our enjoyment of the food.
The paella shrimp was extremely dry. The grilled octopus was hard, unlike the other times I've ordered it. Maybe taking a break from this place and trying a new tapas place.
Update : the owner was so quick to respond to my review and seemed genuinely concerned for the experience I had. that means a lot to a customer. Especially since I've been here over a dozen times last year and usually have a pleasant experience.
Went here a few times for work functions. Overall I think this place is ok and not terrible.
Appetizer wise I think there are a few good choices. Grilled octopus, shrimp in garlic sauce, bacon wrapped dates, beef empanada all were pretty tasty. I think the Tapas were probably the best part of the meal.
The sangria was good in that it was fresh and on par with most sangrias I've had at restaurants.
I ordered the paella valenciana and they brought me the wrong paella. Oh well. I also thought it was really really salty. The portions were really good but salty as hell. I did try the skirt steak which I thought was a little dry also.
Overall the service was friendly even though they messed up my order. They were attentive and nice.
