  1. Had our first wedding anniversary dinner here.  Got a 6:30pm reservation for a Tuesday night and were given an indoor or outdoor seating option.  The inside is just lovely, super high ceilings, exposed brick, so we chose the former.

We were greeted by our waiter and i think the owner (both french) and they were so personable and helpful.  We went in thinking we would get the price fixe but there were so many great options we made our own tasting menu.

We ordered a cheese, speck, the quiche, the gnocchi and the lamb.  The lamb was the stand out, and the cheese/speck was a great way to start the meal.  The gnocchi was beautiful but not as light and fluffy as those little pasta pillows should have been.

We split the German chocolate sundae and shared a few drinks.  My husband keeps raving how great the meal was.  I just loved the decor, ambiance and service.  We'll be back for brunch, the price fixe and many times in between.  So glad a place like this exists just a few steps away from our home.

  2. Satis has such a cute and calm feel to it. As soon as I walked in I couldn't stop thinking about the decor love it! If you can grab a swear by the Window you should. There's also outside seating and a small upstairs seating area.

My first visit here was great. The Sangria and other drinks were fantastic as well as the Steak, seasoned pommes frites and cheese board. My friend enjoyed the pasta and drinks also.

My second visit here wasn't too pleasing. That night the service SUCKED, our waitress took our drinks and appetizer orders and disappeared for the rest of the night. About an hour after last seeing her, we spotted her upstairs which left the the guy that appears to be the manager handling all the tables downstairs.
It was Hudson restaurant week which means pricey restaurants would be flooded with people trying to get good deals of food, which is an OK idea because the Restaurant menu didn't look good. I ordered for the regular menu, had the cheeseboard, pommes frites and the celery soup. The celery soup was OK but didn't really have a taste so I didn't finish it. My friend enjoyed the pasta again but this time it was the green pasta(I don't know the name by its in the photo). . The German chocolate cake Sundae was delicious.

  3. Very enjoyable meal here.

    Nice cocktail selection.

I was very happy with my menu decisions. The duck rilettes (shredded duck confit) appetizer was good. My main dish, the oxtail with mascarpone risotto was excellent.

    Friendly service.

Cozy ambiance, high ceilings, appropriate lighting.

  4. Satis bistro
Came here for dinner on a Friday night. It was about 10pm and we were able to snag a seat outside!! My fave!

Our waiter kind of stunk. He was slow, didn't offer us refills on cocktails in a timely
Manner and was a little pompous to be honest! I wasn't a fan!

We ordered 3 cheeses and 3 meats and olives to start. The blue cheese was too strong and crumbly for my liking but the rest of the cheese was phenomenal.

My cocktail was done well and the white wine I ordered was pretty stellar. We were kind of there to just pick and order some small things. They close the outdoor section at 12, it's a city ordinance thing.

I'll come back but hoping for a Different server!!

  5. Two for two. This place is completely on point.

If you're looking to drink and dine on great food in a cozy, unpretentious cafe-style restaurant with both indoor and outdoor seating, Satis is where you want to be. I can't even begin to tell you how many times I walked past here without having much of an itch to try it. I mean, if you've been to one bistro, you've been to them all, right?

    Wrong.

Satis does the bistro thing better than most. Instead of cloning your typical French-style menu, the selection here is vast and far more unique. Billed as a "Salumeria and European-Style Cafe," Satis' Mediterranean-inspired menu has something for everyone. Be sure to bring your appetite, because a night out here should be a multi-course experience.

The homemade charcuterie and cheeses are sublime. The Saucisson Sec, a dry-cured peppery garlic French sausage, is in a class all its own. And although I'm not a pâté guy, their chorizo and marcona almond pâté was absolutely delicious. And of course, you can never go wrong an aged gouda. Go for the three meats, three cheeses deal and you'll have set the bar high for your first course.

The pastas are also fantastic, though I would suggest selecting one that 2-4 people can share as a second course. This will allow you to save some room for a proper entree and still get to try some of their awesome pasta preparations. The Housemade Ricotta Gnocci with braised escarole, cannellini beans, and garlic confit is the heavier of the bunch, but it's so, so good. As is the Cacio e Pepe, even though the unusual addition of green onion throws things off a bit. The real pasta star, however, is the Pasta Piselli — cappellini pasta and English peas, with a "mint and basil pistou." I don't know what a pistou is, but it's completely delicious. The peas are so fresh you'd think they were picked just before the dish was prepared.

As for the entrees, it really comes down to what you're in the mood for. The classic Black Angus Hangar Steak with Pommes Frites and truffle butter is on standby if you're not up for eating a whole Bronzino stuffed with fresh herbs. My wife loved her beautifully prepared Arctic char, and her friend enjoyed the bone-in Berkshire Pork Milanese, the latter which I would order in a second if we came back.

And trust me, we'll be back. Satis is a destination restaurant. Although located close to my office in Jersey City, we actually made a special drive up from East Brunswick to celebrate my wife's birthday. And what better way to celebrate than with delicious cocktails and wine? The Manhattans at Satis are perfect. And if you need a red wine recommendation, definitely try the Umberto Cesari Sangiovese Riserva. Clocking in at just under $50/bottle, this is one of the best new wines I've discovered in a long time. Marc N. and I had no problem putting down two of these bad boys over the course of dinner.

Not full yet? Good. Because your life won't be complete until you share an $8 helping of Grandma's Icebox Pudding. It's essentially vanilla and chocolate pudding topped with graham cracker crumble — off the charts delicious for what might seem like a very simple dish. Couple it with some grappa, followed by a double espresso, and then sit back and enjoy life in the company of good friends. This is how you spend a great evening.

    Can't wait to come back!

  6. We came here with a bunch of friends for my birthday.

We walked in on a Saturday night with a reservation. Half of our party was about 10 or 15 minutes early, but the hostess seemed quite flustered at our arrival. She pointed out where we were going to be seated, and said it was currently occupied. Okay… I felt she could have just said "our table wasn't quite ready yet, and would you like to sit at the bar until it's ready" would have worked better. The table was flipped and we were seated and waited for the rest of our party.

Drink orders were taken while we were waiting for the rest of our group. Any time there is a drink on a menu that involves tequila and jalapeno, I will get it. Theo, the manager? came over and introduced himself. He is the sweetest man and went out of his way to make sure everything was prefect.

Theo apologized to us about certain popular items not being on the menu as it's restaurant week. Unfortunately, as my birthday always falls out during restaurant week, I'm way too familiar with this happening. I love that the menu very clearly stated what was vegetarian. We got a couple of starters, including the buffalo mozz. The crustini was a little too hard, but Theo fixed it in an instant.

The Broccoli Risotto? So good! Food was delicious. I wasn't planning on doing dessert, but it was my birthday and how are people going to sing the happy birthday song and all… which I personally would be okay skipping, but whatever. Unfortunately, due to restaurant week they were out of ice box puddings ordered by my friends. But Theo replaced them with the sundaes. I can't believe it took me this long to get to Satis, but we will be back.

  7. Love!!!

This place transports you to Europe!  High ceilings, brick wall, amazing decor and a lovely outdoor patio.  We wanted to sit outside but they allow dogs so we skipped it.  That is also the reason this place lost a star.

We both had branzino.  It was fresh and delicious.  The dish was light as it didn't come with vegetables.  For $30 it should come with more than a piece of fish.

For dessert we had the German chocolate sundae which was great.

Overall a great experience.  I would go back.

  8. Been coming here for a couple years and it is always a solid place for great food and friendly service. Whether you are sitting outside or inside- the ambience is usually great and we've tried both their brunch and dinner which are both great.
