This place has the best cannolis IMO. I've tried cannolis in the city and even a few other pastry shops in brooklyn and none of them taste like theirs. Others are either too much filling or the cookie is too tough. But savarese makes it just right. I always get cannolis and jam cookies with sprinkles whenever i come. I've also had their tiramisu cake and its very good! Its not too creamy so u dont hafto feel guilty and its just the right amount of taste! The girls are always friendly whenever i go and they also serve gelatos which i've never got a chance to try yet but will!
Oh Savarese, I WANT to give you five stars and if this was a couple of years ago I would. It's unfortunate how the quality of this once awesome bakery has declined. The last four cakes I got here were all horribly stale. Shame on me for letting it even get to four tries. I've seen bugs flying around the pastries. It's a shame because I really did love their pastries and cakes. Prices are decent but I rather pay more and get better quality. I want freshness!! The girls that work there are very friendly and sweet. I do love their homemade pizza and ices/ice cream/gelatos. Maybe I'll come back to see if, hopefully, things have changed.
I still really like this bakery and yesterday bought a wonderful apple pie.
Unfortunately, I have to visit this awful neighborhood on a regular basis so I give myself a treat by visiting the one decent place in the whole area: this pastry shop.
Its not that this is a bad place, its just that it didn't stand out in any way to me. I was in the neighborhood about to head back into the city, so I wanted to grab some cookies for the road. I got a $10 pre-packaged box of mixed cookies to make things quick; while they were superior to similar packages you'd find in a grocery store, and would be solid in some areas of the city, they were below average for a Brooklyn bakery. I agree with pretty much all of what tiffanie n said

Based on the fruit tart and the service, two stars. The fruit tart didn't even have pastry creme, just raspberry jam and sponge cake. For $28? Pass.
And the girl who helped us wasn't particularly nice. She was catching quite a bit of attitude with us and we were nothing but polite.
