  1. This place is delicious! Food quality was awesome and pairings were perfect. They have a few different types of foods to suit any taste. I've ordered fish and beef dishes and have been pleasantly surprised by both. They have a great drink selection as well. It's expensive so make sure you know what you're getting into so you can order what you want and enjoy your meal. They do reservations and we were pleased to get one last minute. Always a plus in the city.

  2. Came here to try their burger that sounded absolutely delicious from its description.  A dry-aged angus burger with havarti, maple bacon, and a fried egg….which is almost cheating.  

    However, I came out rather disappointed.  First of all, the burger came out one level overcooked.  My medium rare was medium…and my friends who ordered it medium got theirs medium well.  Though supposedly dry-aged, if the flavor was there, it was barely noticeable.  The bacon was also WAY too sweet….even for maple bacon, felt like i was eating candy.  The fried egg…like I said, is almost cheating, and was delicious, oozy yolk and all.  The burger had all the potential to be an amazing burger….but the only part that came out as expected was the only part I could've created myself at home (the fried egg).

    Burger disappointment aside, the rest of the meal was not bad.  The tuna tartare was good, decent quality fish with a nice aioli sauce.  The ricotta gnudi was pretty good as well, great texture, and well-flavored. Oh yeah, the cut-fries were very well made as well with a nice crispiness on the outside, and a soft giving texture inside.

  3. I arrived early and was offered a drink (yes please!) and got a moscow mule-like cocktail while I waited for my friends. When they arrived we were seated in the table right in front of the fireplace, which was a pretty awesome spot.

    Food wise, we ordered the burrata special (YUM), tea smoked mussels (must order) and for my entree, I went for the flank steak. I also ordered a vodka soda cocktail, and it was also spectacular.

    The service is also the perfect amount of attentiveness…I want to come back to try the bone marrow and dessert!

  4. Friend had a birthday dinner here and we had a good time. Waitress was very friendly. I liked the night time upstairs ambiance more than downstairs, so I would request that if I came back. Friends loved their branzino. Lamb was pretty good too. The lemon sour cocktail was great too. It's a solid restaurant to try out- but nothing too special in my opinion.

  5. I will resist the urge to write about the pricing vs. the portion size, and focus on food quality here.
    The decor was the new style, where everything looks like a recently converted factory. Nice decorations in a poorly renovated building. Very now.
    I came here to meet a college friend, and we had a very nice time. The food we got was all delicious. I got "The Burger" and it was cooked perfectly. It came with wonderful french fries. I tasted a few of the drinks my friends got, but didn't get any myself. They seemed to like their meals as well. We ended the night with dessert. I got the cheesecake. Very tasty, but also very small.
    My friends got the smores and were raving.
    We were not rushed out the door when we were finished, which was nice, and they were on top of the water glass all night.
    I don't know if I would come back, though. I felt pretty out-of-place. Most of the dishes seemed like they were written in some foreign language. What the heck is this stuff?

  6. I recently went here on a Sunday for brunch and I have to say I really love this place! The main attraction for me was the sign outside that said they had a make your own bloody mary bar and being a lover of bloody marys this totally lured me in. We were greeted by a very nice hostess who sat us right away. We didn't love the table she first gave us and she quickly moved us to a more favorable location away from the crowd. The menu was awesome and they provide a variety of options that are different from your usual brunch items. I ordered eggs and I loved that they accommodated and made them to your liking. I also loved that they came with a large portion of salad and two large slices of toast and some creamed spinach. Delight and delicious! So my hype for the bloody mary bar was short lived because my laziness got in my way and I just ordered their basic bloody mary. I have to say it looks pretty but I wasn't entirely impressed. I should have made my own! They also have a tasty assortment of breakfast breads that included the most amazing scone I have ever had a mouthwatering corn bread.

    This place would be 5 star quality except the service wasn't the best. The hostess sat us in a quiet corner in the back room but failed to inform us that they had a very large party coming in for a birthday brunch. The quiet corner wasn't so quiet anymore. Also they didn't really come over too often to check on us and it was hard getting their attention.We should have just sat at the bar!

    I will def come back and look forward to a fun brunch making my own bloody and sitting by the bar!

    Oh also, completely a side note but the downstairs area where the bathrooms are is so gorgeous! They have a pretty little stone garden with a pretty fountain in the middle and clean bathrooms that are very cool looking too. I know, totally random! lol

  7. TL;DR : this has become the Pravda of 5 years ago. If you need explanation, read on.

    I am still wistful for this place's former incarnation, and a lot of the design elements remain, the tin ceiling the thick wood tables and the high ceilings.

    The drinks were not quite up to 15-20$ snuff. We found the few we tried to be sugary or poorly mixed. And with the crowds they took forever to arrive. We sat with empty glasses for 15 minutes each time, before we could hail someone over to order more.

    Food was a mixed bag. The Brussels sprouts were delish. The kale salad was pretty unimpressive. Not bad, just tahini wetted lettuce with a few nuts. Friend's lobster soup was $20, which kind of makes me cringe a bit, but she liked it. Desserts were ok, too. We liked the smell of the s'mores but upon opening the jar it was complete mush, like mushy graham crackers and chocolate pudding. Donuts were ok, a bit dry but when they were hot they tasted like subway churros.

    The scene is just that, a scene. Full of ridiculous people preening, old bankers with their call girls and imported hipsters with money to burn. We kept getting elbowed and bumped into by various people posing. it would have been more amusing to watch, as opposed to being enmeshed in it.

  8. *This review is for the Underground Pig Feast*
    We found out about this event on TimeoutNY. We bought tickets for $75 and it was worth every penny. They bring you down a secret door into the basement which is really tastefully designed. It feels like you are chilling in someone's backyard; there's a keg tapped, small gathering of people hanging out in one space, and pig, lots of pig. Our beer cups were bottomless from the time we sat down to the time we got up to leave. The appetizer tower was perfect; insanely good deviled eggs and lots of truffle (not my fav but I respect people's obsession with it). The next course was a super fresh and delicious salad. Next, the pig. Can't really say enough about it. They carry it out whole and the place goes nuts when it comes out. They carve it up and pile it high. Served with really good sauces and mouth-watering sides. They finished it off with a super fresh strawberry rhubarb pie (complete with candles for my girlfriends birthday!). Overall just a supremely unique experience, amazing food, cold beer, and incredible service. If you don't come check this out you are messing up.
