Yummy late night pizza place to go to. Super nice workers. The place had a tiny bar in the back if waiting for a pizza!
For a $19, 18"pizza with only one topping took 20mins to make. Ask for peppers and parm (they make their own!) to go! And they'll give you a small container of them!
Pizza was good! Not too greasy. Had a crunchy crust and didn't sag (for such a large slice!) they cut into 8 pieces. They put a lot of garlic the slices too. So if u like garlic (or about to kill a vampire) this is your pizza spot to go to! 🙂
I work very close to Scarr's, so trust me when I say I was elated to hear that we were getting a local pizzeria (not just some -$2.00 slice place that's more in the business of making money than making good pizza). When I saw that it looked sneakingly similar to GG's deep dish pepperoni, I would say my mood elevated from elated to ENCHANTED.*
I came here on a Friday afternoon with an intense craving for the Sicilian slice that my friend's on Orchard have been buzzing about. It was well, better than average. While I can say that it had a lovely flavor for a wheat-based dough (and I HATE wheat pizza), some portions were severely undercooked (got an entire barely cooked bite). Nonetheless, the outer-crust was cooked to perfection and while serving only wheat crust seems highly hipster this preperation made it respectable. Evident by it's deeper color, the sauce is zestier than most marinaras and the cheese fresh and fairly tasty. The staff is super friendly, the decor, while bizarre, is a great conversation piece, and the prices are in line with other options in the area. Yet, all-in-all, I was expecting more considering the rave reviews from local residents and blogs.
Scarr's pizza is still way above the quality of any other nearby establishments, I would recommend you try it for yourself to see if it satiates your longing for a Sicilian square.
*Scarr's and GG's are great and all, but if you're looking for a true New York Sicilian slice dont walk, RUN, to L&B in Gravesend Brooklyn to experience something truly unforgettable.**

This place has a cool hipster retro vibe with vintage signs, wood paneling, a white laminate counter top bar and affixed diner stools. They didn't have any Sicilian slices left but they did have a plain cheese pie in the oven so I got that for $3. I sat at the bar and drank a little draft Budweiser for $3 while I waited. The fresh cheese pizza was quite tasty. The crust had a brush of char; the tip was wobbly; but the cornicione was thick, chewy, and delicious. The sauce was thin but fresh and packed with lots of herb. The cheese was melted, greasy, and strangely satisfying. The three pieces of fresh basil was a nice touch.
In New York, there are two types of pizza places. 1) Sit-down, buy-a-whole-pie, and enjoy OR 2) Stop in, pick a slice, quick reheat, pay $1-3, and get the Funk Out. Scarr's is a weird hybrid which could be its success or downfall. I didn't mind waiting 10 minutes for my slice $3 slice of cheese pizza because I was not in a rush. However, the guy behind missed out on the last freshly made slice of cheese and was told he would have to wait for the next one after already waiting for 10 minutes.

Amazing new pizza spot. They're still working out logistics, so on this visit, they only had Sicilian Slices ($4) and Personal Pan Pizzas ($10 + $3 for a topping), which take 10 minutes or so to be made.
I got the Sicilian Slice while I waited for the pan pizza, and it was excellent. Portions of the crust were nice and crispy, while the center was soft and springy, partially due to the drizzle of olive oil applied after cooking by Scarr.
As for the pan pizza, it was totally worth the wait. Not quite a deep dish, but much thicker than a regular slice, the caramelized cheese crust was a thing of beauty. Pepperoni was a great addition, though it was really heavy, especially after the additional olive oil applied here as well. But that's a good thing, as it's a steal at just $10 (with no toppings) for a hearty little pie that will really fill you up.
The other amazing thing here is the decor, which is all a throwback to old school New York pizza shops, including booths and stoops at a bar, and posters from Do The Right Thing and Coming To America. All they need is to get a few arcade machines somewhere in here (space is an issue though), and it could be the happiest place on earth.
They will also start serving Italian Ices soon, and eventually heroes and sandwiches, which sounds very promising. I will definitely be back soon to try some of the other slices.
