Delicious and great service! Prices are pretty good, but competitive with Brooklyn greasy spoon. Schnitzel sandwiches are always fresh and they come with a nice choice of sauces. Sides are great too! This place gets busy on Thursday night, Saturday night, and Sunday night. Otherwise, your best best is for lunch.
I know it's weird that I went to a schnitzel place and got a salad, I KNOW, you don't have to tell me but that's what I ended up doing the day I went to Schnitzi. And to be honest…I don't really regret it. I'm sure I missed out on some great schnitzel but the salad I got was one of the most delicious, if not the best salad I've ever had. I got the steak salad, which came with lettuce (duh), tasty sauteed onions, tomatoes and according to the website "sauteed grilled rib eye." What a treat! I kept exclaiming to my friend how good it was while I was eating it. Now, this was a STEAK salad so it was the most expensive thing on the menu but it's a only a about two dollars more than the most expensive schnitzel and a few dollars more than the rest of the schnitzels.
One really great thing about this place is that if you happen to visit the area on a Saturday night after neglecting to think about most places being closed due to Shabbat, like I did, You just have to wait until Shabbat ends and voila you can eat at Schnitzi and try the steak salad for yourself.
I love Schnitzi. There's no other way to say it. This was one of my birthday choices for 2011 along with the nearby delectability that is Mimi's Hummus.
I honestly didn't know that schnitzel could be like this until I stumbled on Schnitzi's a couple of years ago. Now it's one of the things that I miss a lot while I'm putting in my time outside of BK. This is chicken schnitzel and the serving sizes are potentially huge. As in, one sandwich could maybe serve two people, but you'll love the flavours so much, you'll want the whole thing for yourself. Or, go with some friends and order a few and then share – they cut them in half for you to make it easier.
My favourite Schnitzel flavor is the French with a melding of dijon mustard and bread crumbs. I usually ask the people making my sandwich to choose the sauces for me as I love their customized blends, but I definitely always try to get the garlic-mayonnaise somewhere in there. It is SO tasty. The Greek Schnitzel is also one of my faves as are the Schnitzi fries – thinner than a regular fry and so golden and crispy.
Stop by and have one for me – it will be one of my first pilgrimages when I make it back to BK.
This place is delicious ! I love Schnitzi's so much I can't collect my thoughts enough to write a proper review. If and when they open a shop in Manhattan it will be a game changer for me. I pray to the G-d of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob (I'm not a person of faith, so this is big) that in my time they will come to Manhattan and grace us with their Israeli soul food.
